2  cut-up T-shirt dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by jillville on: July 09, 2012 12:37:33 PM
Long time no post. I clearly was busy with my studies..for like 2 years or so. Well, I got my crafting and sewing mojo back and have some things to come.
First this really simple reconstruction. But I love it. This dress is so comfy. I already got a commission to make one for a friend... I just got a big tee 2nd hand for like 3 euro and started cutting.

c&c welcome Smiley

3  revamp my granddads candleholders in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by jillville on: November 06, 2011 05:30:24 AM
my granddad gave me some candleholder he made in the 60s. There were more, but the most are gone and he wanted to light up the barbecue in his garden with these last ones. I actually asked for them, because I remebered them and was playing with the idea of "updating" them. They have been in the garage for decades, so they were pretty torn.

you can see them also on my blog https://girlskickass.wordpress.com/2011/11/04/this-summer/

5  confetti quilt cushion w/ quick tute in Quilting: Completed Projects by jillville on: September 18, 2009 04:25:07 PM
i finished another cushion last night, for our newly built bench in the kitchen  Grin
its a confetti quilt pattern. although its simple in its theory the actual making holds some difficulties.
as you can see in the pictures i had to add a small panel of the neutral fabric to get back my square.
i should have trimmed my panels before joining them.
if you want to try this out, follow these steps:
1. gather small scraps and some neutral/ solid fabric
2. cut long strips from neutral/ solid fabric
3. sew the scraps onto the strips in a row
4. cut each section
5. repeat step until you have 3 sides of the scraps framed with neutral/ solid fabric
6. arrange in rows and sew togehter
7. quilt if you like and finish to your liking
8. be happy that you made a confetti quilt

last but not least my stuffie.
i was pleasantly surprised when i came home from vacation to find THIS

don't you think it looks very similar to this little cutie?

i love it, i love elephants to death.
i tried to take better pictures, but fall is already here in germany and the last days were rainy, so no good light.
but she now has her place at my knitting/reading chair and i think she likes it.
THANK YOU called2otherskys!!!

7  string quilt block cushion in Quilting: Completed Projects by jillville on: September 17, 2009 11:06:27 AM
so this cushion is made of scraps and entirely from my stash, so i consider it reconstructed.
its not quilted, because i was afraid to destroy it. after i teared apart the paper it became uneven and bulky. has anyone else this problem and how do you fix this?
i like it anyway, because its cheery and i like the fabrics of which i only had teeny tiny scraps left. i stitched a straight stitch around the border using embroidery floss.
i hope you like it. c&c appreciated.
and do you see the little elephant? i got it at the "stuffie swap". i love her (its a she), now i have to find a name.

8  the butterfly project in Crafty Charitable/Social Causes by jillville on: July 22, 2009 06:11:58 AM

i hope this is the right section, but i found this project http://www.hmh.org/minisite/butterfly/index.html
via http://tallysplace.blogspot.com/2009/07/holocaust-butterfly-project.html#comment-form and i found it very worth to spread around the net to promote! please crafters, take part at this!

"Children were neither just the mute and traumatized witnesses to
this war, nor merely its innocent victims; the war invaded
their imaginations and the war raged inside them."

Nicholas Stargardt in "Witnesses of War: Children's Lives Under the Nazis"

In an effort to remember them, Holocaust Museum Houston is collecting
1.5 million handmade butterflies.

The butterflies will eventually comprise a breath-taking exhibition, currently scheduled for Spring 2012, for all to remember.

As of Summer 2008, we have already collected an estimated 400,000 butterflies.

9  a quick sunday afternoon project: a vintage tea towel pillow in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by jillville on: July 19, 2009 09:36:10 AM
so i went thrift storing some days ago and i found this really cute tea towel. its from the 60s i guess and it has recipes for different kinds of coffee written on it. i loved it and first i wanted to make a tote, but then, as i am in a pillow making mood (envisioning to move in with the boy i immediately started nesting...) i decides to make it into a pillow. today it rained a lot, so i got around making it.

c&c appreciated. thanks for looking.
