141  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Armpit knitting? on: April 17, 2007 06:35:55 AM
What happens when they need to do small work like a sock or an arm?
142  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Armpit knitting? on: April 17, 2007 06:17:12 AM
I don't get it. And I've actually never heard of it, then again...I've only been knitting for a little over a year. In all the videos it just shows the yarn being wrapped around the left index finger...I don't see a needle in anyones armpit (and I don't even see how that would be possible,if you're using 7" needles you're supposed to have the needle being held in your armpit but knit at the same time even though most grown humans arms are longer than 7" and that would be a serious amount of bending and flexibility for your arm in order to knit that way? It doesn't make sense...I can see 14", but not 7", nor circular), all they show in the videos are the hands...unless the index finger has taken on a new name...

I love this...it's so awesome! You've given me the idea to make one with Boba Fett (he's my second love!). And my husband would also be totally jealous  Grin

Haha...Not really, I guess. I've been here for almost a year, but my husband has been here a little longer. I do know on another thread someone had mentioned that the library had a knitting class or something, but I don't know which day or what time. There's quite a few little restaurants, and there's a hobby shop, but that's all I know.

I don't get out of the house much at all so I do my crafting by myself. I live in Beverly on Cabot Street and there is a yarn shop a couple hundred feet up the road (towards the RMV) and I know they do classes, if you're into knitting. I've never been in it, it's small. There's also a seamstress shop called Seams on the opposite side a bit further up than the yarn shop. Also have never been in it but I've seen quite a few interesting things in the window.

That is adorable! Where did you get the fabric? And for not using a pattern I'd say it came out very nice.
149  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / Re: sewing machine problems on: February 26, 2007 11:06:46 AM
I don't own one of those, but I know when I've had problems with my tension it was usually because of the top thread. Actually...I'm not even sure if the bobbin on my machine has a tension screw. I've never found one. But yeah...try playing around with the top thread. It might need to be cleaned and greased up if you haven't done that yet...if there's lint that could get caught up in the thread and cause problems. Other than that I don't really know. Maybe contact the company...
