11  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Scarf pattern for fingering weight yarn? on: January 23, 2007 11:22:11 PM
Just wondering if anyone knows a good scarf pattern for a fingering weight yarn. It's a handpainted blue-violet yarn from Blackberry Ridge, and it's gorgeous.  I want something that's not going to take a long time, but not too plain either.  Thanks in advance for any suggestions! Smiley
12  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / Question about Itty Bitty tankini.. on: January 20, 2007 06:22:12 PM
and other swimsuits in general.  I was just wondering if anyone has knit this or another swimsuit and how practical they are.  Can you really swim in them, or are they just for sunbathing?  And I am pretty busty and i'm wondering if anyone has any ideas about adding extra support into the top.  i was thinking about taking the underwire from an old bra and knitting it into the top.  think that would work?  i'm open to any suggestions, thanks!
13  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / My first post, with some Christmas gifts (the pictures work now!) on: January 12, 2007 09:55:28 AM
So this is my first post, but I've been knitting for a little while.  I first learned two years ago, and made a garter stitch scarf which I didn't know how to bind off, so I quit.  (I was teaching myself from the internet)  Then a little over a year ago I started again and I knitted two things, an ipod case and a ribbed scarf (which you can see in the picture of my niece.  So then I quit again for awhile and finally picked up knitting for good early this fall.  I am addicted now and have to have my knitting with me everywhere I go.  Anyway, I didn't come here to write a novel, just wanted to tell you a little about me. Anyway, I know it's a little late, but I had lots of things I made for Christmas gifts and today was the first day I got around to posting.

this is hand-dyed and a shadow cable pattern, i knit it for my best friend and almost didn't want to give it to her...

my niece (6 mo.) is wearing the turquoise hooded cardigan. it's my favorite, as it is the first garment I have knitted.  i love it. Smiley

my cousin's baby (2 mo.) is wearing a strawberry hat.  i'm kind of proud of it because i couldn't find the pattern for a baby, so i sort of had to make it up myself.

the baby blue hat with the angel wings i knit for my aunt.  it's made of baby alpaca and is very soft, because she was going through chemo (breast cancer).  i really regret not knitting this hat sooner, but i didn't know how to do hats before.  i finally finished it just before christmas and gave it to her.  she loved (and I mean LOVED) angels, so that's why the angel wings, and baby blue was her favorite color, and she loved that that i sewed a tag into it with my name on it.  she passed away this weekend at 45, and it made me happy that my uncle placed the hat into her casket.    anyway, sorry, not trying to make this a sad post.

ok so i changed the post and just put some of my favorites cause i don't want to post a ton of pictures tonight.

so anyway i think that's it.  this was a very long post, i apologize, and thank you for reading!   i look forward to posting more.  i've been a lurker for awhile and am soooo impressed with all the things on here.

later! Smiley
