1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Checkout these size 50 knitting needles on: November 14, 2007 06:36:23 AM
I actually used them to make a scarf last weekend..

in reality I just wanted to see what they were like, so I cast on about twenty stitches of a worsted weight mohair-esque yarn.

Both my 9 year old cousin and my Mom wanted it.

I think it is a lion brand, it's their knock off of the pringle sweater:

I'm pretty sure you can get 6, 9, and 12 millimeter black eyes at a jo-anns if you're near one they're in the same place as the googlie eyes.

Looks quite a bit like the (knit) daisy stitch seen here

As far as using this pattern for a beginning sock knitter,
I just finished knitting these socks, and they were my first top-down socks, and my first pair of socks.
The first sock I made was using knitty's universal toe-up formula, and I don't really consider it similar as far as technique.

I'd say go for it, If you're a beginner.

Great work, love 'em all.

Perhaps I'm reading into things,
But do I see a Venture Brothers reference? In the Club Soda one, that is.

Everything looks great, but I LOVE the baby socks!
They're so cute.
8  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: An Awesome Cabled bag from Garnstudio! on: February 27, 2007 11:04:11 PM
I'm knitting this right now from some yarn I recycled, and because it's such a smaller weight than the recommended yarn, I'm knitting with 330 sts all around instead of 220.
It's going pretty good though, if not a bit slow..
two inches in two days.

Hello

I used a double strand of a recycled cotton charcoal sweater to get about a dk weight and used it to make a calorimetry on size six needles (instead of the recommended 8's, as almost everyone has found it too large)
And it did end up just a bit big, so I cast on again, this time with one strand of the charcoal and one strand of another recycled wool in a light teal color, and I'm adjusting the size.

I love recycled yarn.
