1  Frida Kahlo Inspired hoop in Completed Projects by sheriffkarli on: July 02, 2014 01:04:37 PM
So I made this hoop with a lot of different techniques so i wasn't sure where to post it. I used an awesome Alexander Henry fabric for the background and then beaded and emroidered all over it. I sewed/embroidered the Frida skull from wool felt, and stitched on vintage plastic flowers, with pearls in the centers. I made the little red flower and stuck a vintage button in the middle. I'd love to hear and comments/criticism on it!

Here I embroidered the strings on the puppet

Sequins and beading

Thanks for looking!

2  Dr. Mario Painting in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by sheriffkarli on: July 02, 2014 12:48:04 PM
I'm a huge video game fan, and when i saw this long skinny canvas for sale i knew just what i wanted to do with it. The Dr. Mario Viruses were some of my favourite game characters growing up so I decided to paint them!
The canvas is 10 by 30 and i used acrylic paints.

And here is me holding it, so you can get an idea of how big it is.

3  Hoot! Owl needlework in Needlework: Completed Projects by sheriffkarli on: May 01, 2014 02:16:40 PM
I stitched this owl up with wool felt and lots of embroidery. I used some metallic thread which i love the look of but hate working with! I stuck him in a sort of shadow box type frame and really like how it looks. Getting a picture of it was tough though!

4  TMNT Shoes in Shoes: Completed Projects by sheriffkarli on: May 01, 2014 02:04:33 PM
I handpainted these shoes for a co-worker of mine for her grandson. They were a bit tricky since they are a childs size 11 and i'm used to working with adult sized shoes. I'm pretty happy with how they turned out though!

5  Felt, fabric, embriodery and skulls! in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by sheriffkarli on: April 18, 2014 02:20:53 PM
I love making these wall hangings. I use wool felt, fabric, beads, sequins, and lots of embroidery. Here are my most recent two that i've made. I'm planning on entering a local art show with these so i'd love to hear and comments/critique on them. Thanks!

6  Pokemon Ampharos Painting in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by sheriffkarli on: March 23, 2014 11:44:09 AM
I'm a big fan of pokemon, so when i found this big piece of wood i knew I had to paint my favourite pokemon Ampharos on it. I've never painted on wood this way before so it was a bit tricky for me, but i'm really pleased with how it turned out.

You can see I still have to trim the extra wood off the bottom!

7  Dreamcatcher in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by sheriffkarli on: March 23, 2014 11:35:27 AM
So after seeing a few on pinterest i decided to try to make my own dreamcatcher. I wrapped a metal hoop with silk, then stitched the doily into the middle. I wire wrapped some cool beads, and hung them along with feather, coral, charms, and buttons. I love the way it came out, but it was pretty difficult to photograph.

8  Tokidoki Converse in Shoes: Completed Projects by sheriffkarli on: September 29, 2013 03:00:27 PM
I found these awesome pink and black converse in a kids size 3 at goodwill for only $6! After giving them a good wash and scrub with a magic eraser, i painted them up for my niece who loves unicorns. She also loves anime, so i thought a tokioki theme would be perfect for her. The stars are done in silver glitter and then sealed so they can still be washed when they get dirty. I surprised her with them for back to school and she loves them!

9  Ho-oh and Lugia Converse sneakers in Shoes: Completed Projects by sheriffkarli on: September 24, 2013 05:54:10 PM
I found a great pair of black converse at Goodwill for only $8 so i knew right away that i wanted to paint them up for my nephew. I gave them a wash and then went to work on them. I asked him what he wanted me to paint and of course the answer was Pokemon. He picked two of his favourite legends, Ho oh and Lugia. I'm really happy with how they turned out, but i'm still thinking about adding some more onto the background.

10  Embroidered ATC's in Needlework: Completed Projects by sheriffkarli on: September 24, 2013 05:48:30 PM
I've been really making wool felt artist trading cards lately. I love doing all the tiny embroidery. Here are some cards I made for this fall! I love the look of the metallic embroidery floss but it is a huge pain to work with! I still ended up using it on my owl cards.
