1  Re: First Batts in Spinning: Completed Projects by Sherie on: August 15, 2007 08:02:42 PM
Yes, I've already spun them up.  Here's the yarn.  It's just a bit uneven, but not because of the batts, I was practicing my long draw technique!

As far as spinning from the batts.  On these I just took the batt and tore off lengthwise pieces and spun those pieces.  There were lovely and drafted and spun quite easily.  Since then I've made some more batts and this batch I'm pulling the batts into roving and spinning from there.  A technique I read about in Deb Menz's book.  This is working very well too.  I like both techniques about the same.

Just got a drum carder (Strauch Petite) and had to break him in.  His name is Spike because he bit me!  LOL   Anyway, here are my first batts.  They are corriedale, dyed by me a long time ago.  I blended purple and gold fibers together.  I'm loving this carder and I love the batts.  I started spinning them last night and they are spinning like a dream.  Will post pictures when I have the yarn completed.

Here's my newest yarn.  Merino and SoySilk.  I've called it CandyRibbons.  18WPI, 2 ply, 250 yards.
