211  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Re: Michigan In a Box on: December 01, 2006 04:47:29 PM
I recently sent a box like this to a friend who moved from MI to TX.  She has actually been there for few years now and is getting a little homesick, especially for autumn.    I included some fall leaves pressed into wax paper, maple syrup - a small container, kinda heavy- some pine cones and pine needles for the pine smell she loves so much, some paper snowflakes I cut, a CD of Wally Pleasant, a local musician - pretty popular up here and sooo much fun to listen to,  and 19 wheels - the band out of Grand Rpaids, the local paper our small city puts out - for some gossip and local 'color',   some mulling spices for apple cider, dried cherries - one of her favorite snacks, and a dry batter mix homemade from my fathers restaurant.   And a few other items for her daughter.

What were your friends favorite things to do while she was here? her favorite things to eat?  places to visit?  did you two have any 'traditions'?

I hope this helps!  My friend and her daughter, 3yo, had so much fun opening the package- she really appreciated it and we are still very close even though she has been gone for 7 years now. Smiley
