1  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: LOTS of handmade doilies on: January 19, 2015 08:59:46 AM
I saw a really neat idea where you modge podge doilies to a mason jar and put candles in it. I thought it was cool and it made me wish I had some doilies!

If they are cotton you could cut them into strips and make a braided rug
3  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Door Knobs and Deadbolts and Hardware, Oh My! on: January 18, 2015 04:18:27 PM
I bought a big box of door knobs off of craigslist for only $10 (score!) because there were some vintage brassy ones in there. However, I got stuck with a whole bunch of junk ones and the guts and some keys, etc.

Was wondering if anyone had any neat ideas on what to do with these poor hunks of metal...? I know I can make a coat rack like I do with the vintage ones, but are there any other ideas? These are the ones that have no matching keys and don't work well as a set...

I did a bunch of those for Christmas with tissue/scrapbook paper.

I do have a suggestion- spray them with a sealer afterward...I learned the hard way that using just modpodge doesn't hold up too well!

LOVE this idea! Never thought to make a sort of "birthday card" out of tins!

Now I better get all those tins out that I've been saving and get to work!

I like the idea of covering things...since the texture of it is kinda cool

OMG! You are brilliant!

Thank you for the awesome idea!

I just got some chalkboard paint for a Christmas project for a friend, so that'll be an awesome way to use what I have left!

I've known people that have "reconstructed" watches with mini-screwdrivers and whatnot.

If the band is nice, you can make a cute cuff

Or, you could take the watch apart and use the bits and pieces for projects.

A cool idea I have would be to take the face plate off the watch and decorate it then reattach it, so its a cool looking watch/bracelet.

How are you sealing them? If you don't seal them right then it won't work Modge Podge won't do the trick!
They look great, I just want to make sure they are made to stay looking great!

Well, I'm using Modge Podge on the paper, but then I'm taking them into the dungeon (basement) and giving them 4-5 coats of Krylon Triple Thick sealer.

But thank you...I've learned my lesson with a few with Modge Podge...it prompted me to get a good spray sealer to use afterwards.

I'm making a ton for family and friends for Christmas (after buying a house, it is a cheap Christmas this year!)

Sunflower coasters for my aunt

You can't see the glitter detail in it, but I lined the flowers and a few things in the paper with my glitter pens Smiley

Cape Cod coasters for my grandparents

They live on Cape Cod and they love it there. So I found some old maps of my father's and cut out Cape Cod and made them into coasters.

I'm loving these bathroom tile coasters! They are so easy and cheap to make (only $ .16 at Home Depot!)
