1  Bathroom Tile Coasters in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by lovelyxmalia on: December 06, 2011 02:49:39 PM
I'm making a ton for family and friends for Christmas (after buying a house, it is a cheap Christmas this year!)

Sunflower coasters for my aunt

You can't see the glitter detail in it, but I lined the flowers and a few things in the paper with my glitter pens Smiley

Cape Cod coasters for my grandparents

They live on Cape Cod and they love it there. So I found some old maps of my father's and cut out Cape Cod and made them into coasters.

I'm loving these bathroom tile coasters! They are so easy and cheap to make (only $ .16 at Home Depot!)

2  Window shades in What the heck can I do with THIS? by lovelyxmalia on: December 04, 2011 04:38:48 PM
So we moved into a new house (you'll be getting a lot of threads from me about what to do with things-haha!) And we went to put shades up in the bedroom windows.  Our windows don't allow shades to into the frame and the windows each have a frame and are too close together to get the outter hooks to put them OUTSIDE the frame. (gotta love those old windows!) and one of them is completely ruined.

Is there anything I can do with that? I was thinking of using a part of it to make some new funky lampshades? Its too small to really use anywhere else and one end is completely ruined.

Any ideas would be awesome!

4  CD Spindles and Plastic Tubes in What the heck can I do with THIS? by lovelyxmalia on: September 08, 2011 11:35:20 AM
I have a few empty CD spindles similar to this:

I saw a few ideas to screw the bottom into a shelf (like with glass bottles where you screw the top into a shelf and put stuff in there), but I don't know if the plastic would be strong enough to store things.

Also, I have some mailing tubes like this:

And I don't know what I can do with it. Its not super huge but is medium size and I can't bear to throw it out! And also a clear tube that my wall decal came in.

Any ideas would be great?

5  Magazine Roll Box in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by lovelyxmalia on: May 07, 2011 08:16:18 AM
So, I finally decided to put my old shoeboxes to use and give this tutorial a whirl that I found when browsing the web the other day..

The completed project!

This is the shoebox after I decorated the inside (with all of my paper scraps, so this project is 100% recycled with nothing left over!)  My cat wanted to help, so he pressed down the glued papers on the inside   Tongue

The inside of the box.  You can see the sides of the rolls.  Some of the rolls were higher than the sides of the box, but I think it makes it look more abstract/artsy that way!

My next project is my boyfriend's phone box.  I got the inside and sides done...

Now, I'm debating on whether or not to just paint the top of the box or add some more rolls to it.

And here is the link to the tutorial.  http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to-make-urban-outfitters-recycled-magazine-holder-376731/

I've found other tutorials for this project, but this was the simplest and funnest one I've found!

Thanks for looking!

6  My First Attempt at Decoupaging a Cabinet! in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by lovelyxmalia on: May 04, 2011 06:57:52 PM
So, I bought this cabinet from a flea market for $5!

I really liked the black paint because it was already sanded down and looked antiqued in a way around the edges, so I opted out of repainting it...Instead I decoupaged over the black and made it a 70s theme from old National Geographic Magazine images....and here is the final outcome!

Sorry the pics aren't the greatest...

The top

Both sides I did with the ads in the back of the magazines.

7  Empty Glitter Pens? in What the heck can I do with THIS? by lovelyxmalia on: March 19, 2011 05:20:06 PM
I was cleaning out my crafts tonight (long overdue!) and I came across my old glitter pens.  Some of them are dried out and the tubes are kinda cool but I don't know what to do with them...any ideas?

8  "5" Gum Packages in What the heck can I do with THIS? by lovelyxmalia on: February 18, 2011 07:19:19 AM
I'm so tempted to go out and buy a million of these packs of gum because I LOVE the packaging!  Does anyone have any ideas of what I can do with these?  They are a little smaller than the trident or dentine ice packages but a little thicker.  Here are some images (yes with craftster in the background!)

9  Small Plastic Tiles? in What the heck can I do with THIS? by lovelyxmalia on: February 05, 2010 06:43:15 PM
They're small VCT tile samples (vinyl composition...so they're kind of plastic-y feeling) and I have a few boxes of them in different colors...I was thinking of doing some kind of mosaic with them, except cutting or breaking them will be very difficult...any ideas?  They're about 2 sq. in.

10  Small Paint Jars in What the heck can I do with THIS? by lovelyxmalia on: January 14, 2010 07:17:54 AM
I have about a dozen of these small jars from paints I bought a few years ago...all of the paints are dried and crusted now, but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to what to do with the jars?

I have a bunch of other paints in tubes that I was thinking of putting in them, but I don't know if they'll dry out in there.  I bought the other paints at a dollar store and I'm having problems with caps falling off of the tubes and stuff.  Does anyone have any ideas?  My boyfriend suggested putting little scrap papers in there and making a little decoration with them.
