1  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: A week in the life of... Photo swap round 3 on: September 11, 2009 12:04:29 PM
Ooh, I really want to do this. Even though my camera is crappy and my life consists of lectures and coursework and boozing. Tongue I'll definitely consider joining in.

Oh man. If only my hand wasn't all bandaged up. D: (Wrist surgery. Good times.) I love all things Who so much. Oh well, I hope there's a round six sometime. Wink

Thanks for all the compliments on the neckwarmer! The stitch pattern is Gothic Lace, from The Encyclopedia of Knitting by Lesley Stanfield and Melody Griffiths.

I received from my partner Wignatz a few days ago, but I've been too busy to post pictures until now.

First, the lovely extras:

Super cute badges and book lending plates, and an issue of Make! I'm pretty sure we don't get that over here, and I'm always drooling over their website, so it's very much appreciated. Cheesy

And the easpy peasy item itself: a lovely bracelet! The beads are polymer clay with glass marbles and old, sciencey clipart. Sorry the picture is so bad - it doesn't photograph well and my camera is terrible.

Thank you, wignatz! I love everything. Cheesy
4  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Geek Chic swap (SIGNUP CLOSED; MAIL BY 15/06/2009 - June 5th). on: June 14, 2009 01:58:34 PM
I feel like using language that would probably be frowned upon on this forum. :/ I won't be able to send tomorrow, mostly because my hand is being a bitch so I can do very little other than whine and read. I feel terrible, because I've already received and I totally should have tried to get everything done sooner. I could bang something together, but I think it's better to send something I'm happy with.

I'm pretty much done with my medium, I just need to work on making it more blatantly geeky. It's turning out really cute, though. Cheesy

That bracelet is really cute! I love the rainbow effect it has going on. Cheesy

I love everything in this gallery, seriously. I keep meaning to comment on everything, but then I forget and a billion new things get posted. Tongue

The octopus is super cute, and I think Sherman is a perfectly fitting name. Cheesy

littlbluegirl, that scarf is gorgeous. Did you use a pattern? I kind of want to make one. (I'm a complete crochet noob. I can kind of see how it's made, but not well enough to actually copy it...)

Haha, socks are generally my easy, no pattern project, except maybe a stitch chart I have to keep track of. Cheesy (Then again, pretty much the only projects I use patterns for are sweaters. I just can't be bothered most of the time, so logically I design everything myself and end up having to rip and tweak a billion times in the process. Tongue ) I love cables, but I lose charts and fail at counting rows. Lace kind of hurts my brain. Simple stranded colourwork, though? Bring it on. The chart is right there. Cheesy

I got my awesome package from the fabulous Reuse a few days ago! I wanted to take pictures in sunlight, but the weather hasn't been cooperating, so these were the best I could do. They don't really do justice to the fantastic items, but really, I'm not sure this level of pure awesome could be contained in a photograph anyway. Wink Click on the pictures to see them larger.

The bubble mailer everything came in, decorated with nerdy goodness, and extras: Skittles, SweetTarts, maple candies, and a magic towel and magnetic clip decorated with the Canadian flag. Cheesy I love Skittles, but can't get them here, so those are very much appreciated, and I may have eaten the whole thing of SweetTarts at once. The maple candies were strange, but delicious. Smiley

Everything was wrapped in tissue paper and ribbon! Opening them was like Christmas. Cheesy

I got a Darwin fish necklace! We're both evolution nerds. Cheesy

Action shot! I love it.

Two absolutely brilliant bracelets! The charms are, from left to right, pi, an atom (Carbon, is that you? Wink ), a book to represent my literature nerd side, another pi, and the integration symbol. The other bracelet is, yep, pi again. I love, love, love both of them. Cheesy

A terrible action shot of the charm bracelet. (If my wrist looks weird, like I think it might, it's because A. I broke it five years ago and it didn't set right, and B. because I got bit by some weird mutant insect, which sadly gave me terrible swelling and itching instead of superpowers.)

And an action shot of the pi bracelet. I've worn it twice now, and I've gotten a bunch of compliments from likeminded nerds. Cheesy

I also got a really cute zippered pouch. Math is indeed very sexy. Wink

And finally, a beautiful tote bag. The pictures is from a bubble chamber. I love these kinds of pictures. They're incredibly pretty and intriguing. This immediately became my default bag, so it has all my crap, including the 'math is sexy' pouch, in it in this shot. Cheesy

Thank you so, so much, Reuse! I love everything!

(And now I'm going to go work on my crafts again so I won't end up sending a totally crap package in return... Swap anxiety systems are GO!)

So, my partner didn't drop off the face of the earth, yay! She's sent as well, and now all that's left is the waiting. And the swap inadequacy, because I only sent the craft and some candy, unlike everyone else, apparently. Tongue
