Do you remember the days when being friends meant giving bracelets you put all of your blood, sweat, and tears into? The embroidery floss and hemp bracelets would stay on your wrists for months or years to remind you of that best friend ever you left back at camp. Now is the time to regain that nostalgia by joining this swap. Each swapper will be placed into a group (or more) of three people (or more). You are required to make a bracelet for each member in your group. We don't want to braided bracelets... well unless it is really complex and awesome. You can make the same type of bracelet for each member but please make them personalized to the partner. There has been given a one month crafting period in order for all bracelets to be made. You can send out whenever you are ready. And please only sign up if you can fulfill your obligations and don't sign up for more than you can handle.

If you want to participate, information to send to organizer:

QUESTIONNAIRE TO ANSWER:
Name of swap: Friendship Bracelet Swap
Craftster username
Email address
Your real name
Mailing address including the country
Would you be willing to ship to an address outside your own country?
Confirm that are at least 16 years old or, if not, that you have moderator approval(YES/NO)
Would you be interested in participating in a larger group?
Would you be interested in participating in multiple groups? How many?
Favorite colors?
Rate your ability on a scale of 1-10:
Are you allergic to embroidery floss, hemp, or plastic lanyard stuff (the basic components of a friendship bracelet)?
Wrist size?

IF YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE, REMEMBER TO SEND YOUR INFO TO ORGANIZER VIA PRIVATE MESSAGE AND NOT TO REPLY WITH IT HERE. PLEASE TITLE Friendship Bracelet Swap

Also, remember to read the Swap Info Guide to find other rules about participating in a swap.

tankrgrl is our new co-organizer! yay!

Hello girls! I just wanted to let you know that DC#s are not necessary for this swap and I believe everyone was just going to mail from their home box. Just snap a picture of your envelopes ready to be sent to either lilbandade or tankrgrl.

A friendship bracelet swap.
Just a quick little swap.

Participants would be placed into groups (the number in groups varies on the amount of people who sign up).
You would have to create a friendship bracelet for every person in the group.
Maybe a small item too, but that is a very large maybe.

Edit: Sign-ups open!

14  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Elephant Pillow! on: December 22, 2009 11:21:34 PM
As a Christmas present, I made my friend this Elephant pillow and felt the need to share.
The design is my own. The blue side is fleece and the pink checkered side… isn’t.
Its some weird blend I got off of the Wal*Mart sale fabric rack.
Anyway, pictures!

Front.

Back.

Ear Flap back/detail.

Added Bonus: The Wrapping Paper and Tag.
For wrapping paper, I stamped postal paper in a design.

And this is the tag that is now hanging around its neck.

Have a nice day and happy holidays!
15  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Molecule Necklaces! (image intense) on: December 22, 2009 11:13:23 PM
this post was entirely inspired by this http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=37262566&ref=cat3_list_2
and all information was gotten http://www.reciprocalnet.org/edumodules/commonmolecules/list.html

Back story: Every year for Christmas, I like to make my best friends the same thing only different versions. This was our first year in college and all three of them went on to be Science majors while I traveled on to be an Art major. After seeing moleculemuse's necklaces, I knew these molecule necklaces were what they needed. Sadly, I didn't have $85 to spend on each necklace. I thought "Hey, I'm a crafty gal! Lets see if I can't create knock-offs!" I chose my molecules and made sure they all related to Christmas then headed to Michaels for a journey into jewelry making. Let the photos commence!

Group Shot. All pretty much packaged.

Now for each individual molecule.

Cinnamon:

the individual necklace.

entire packaging. Box set up to look like a professional jewelry store package. a paper to tell what it is, and a scented To:/From: tag that smells of cinnamon.

Peppermint:

the individual necklace.

entire packaging. this tag that smells like peppermint.

and finally, Vanillin:

the individual necklace.

entire packaging. this tag that smells like, you guessed it, vanilla.

To finish off this post, a picture of all the boxes.
They are candy boxes stamped with holiday stamps painted in the respective colors I chose for the molecule.

Happy Holidays!
after i gift these, I'll try to get pictures of the recipients.
16  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / resin picture frame on: April 04, 2009 09:23:21 PM
basically what the title says.
pictures are below but, warning, i'm going to explain the story behind it.

a little over a year ago, a classmate of mine was in a car accident. i wasn't particularly close to her but she was a best friend of one of my best firends. She liked animal print. Seniors have this thing, Senior Dress up day, where we get bonus for dressing up to a theme. Her friends asked the teacher in charge if we could do animal print and then get the whole class together for a picture to give to her mother to prove we didn't all forget. The teacher passed it and i offered to make a resin picture frame because i was itching to use my resin. I feel i did a pretty good job. The picture you are seeing here are before i sprayed it with acrylic sealer which cleared the resin up considerably. I did take a picture of it after it was sprayed, but on my cell phone and i can't get that picture onto the computer. It was just given to my friend ot give to her family on friday so i have no clue how it was recieved.

Procedure:
I made a mold out of modeling clay. Then did one layer of resin. A second layer of resin on that with the picture and the beads in it. A final layer for the back and that had the zebra print paper in it. the back and sides were then sanded down and i sprayed the whole thing with acrylic sealer.

Pictures:
one with flash and one without.

18  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / King Edward II Crown on: January 04, 2009 05:18:20 PM
so this is my first ever adventure into Clayland. Our English teacher, because we are studying the Middle Ages, gave us a creative project. There were a bunch to pick from and i would have done crochet but i did that for my last project (Grendel anyone?) plus as soon as she said about a student in the past making jewelry i knew i had to make a lifesize crown out of clay. Its due tomorrow and i finished it yesterday. It took over 20 hours (that includes research and baking and painting and sanding). Sorry the picture suck, i should be able to get better ones later but i'm so excited about this that i just had to post it now.

Materials:
5 packs Sculpy clay: 1 sweet potato, 1 yellow, 3 gold
20 very small clear "gems"
5 half sphere "gems" painted red
5 odd "gems" painted green
a BUNCH of patience

its a replica of King Edward II's link.

i made a pillow for it to sit on in the display case.

for sizing purposes. i have an average sized head.
19  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Grendel Anyone? on: January 04, 2009 05:16:37 PM
Our teacher, a month or two ago, when we were reading Beowulf, had us do a creative project. Grendel was my favorite out of the bits we read so for my project, i crocheted me up a cute little Grendel. Then, at the last minute, i threw together a little display/cave/box for him. I should be getting him back soon (tomorrow. fingers crossed). She makes us display them in the trophy case in the lobby. I deffinately had the cutest.

he's not very big. like 8" maybe?

my favorite part of the cave was the "water" because i coated it in polyurithane (excuse my spelling) so it looked wet even though it was dry. win!
