31  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / Re: My fairly easy fair isle on: July 22, 2007 10:48:50 AM
it looks great, one of my fave patterns. i was toying with the idea of just making the yoke, as a sort of mini capelet - is that insane? i just don't want a big cardi, so it's either that, or try and make it shirt sleeved and a bit cropped.

any tips from someone who's taken the task on?

the plan is now some chunky weight (from that very helpful table, 2 strands of worsted US equals 1 strand of chunky UK), some alpaca/mohair mix i found online from texere.co.uk.  will report back if it works!
but i agree with shine, patterns are more guidelines, everybody does stuff differently.

Considering making these bad boys for a present, but having yarn difficulties.  I can't get hold of worsted yarn here, it's DK or aran for the closest match. AND I can't get any nice angora stuff either.
So, could I use 2 strands of aran? Or would that be too thick, would one do the trick, or maybe one strand of something thicker, like chunky weight?
Very confused.  Huh Any help would be grand!
