11  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Restoring an old quilt? on: May 13, 2011 11:13:41 AM
I have a quilt my great-grandmother made.  It's very "depression era" like.  Made totally with scraps of old clothing (lots of red corduroy!) and the "batting" is actually what appears to be old flannel shirts.  I know this because it's falling apart Sad  Is there anyway I can restore this to usable condition?  I can take pictures if it will help Smiley

Thank you all so much for your help!!!!

I am still working (sllllooooowwwwlllll yyyy) on my quilt, but wanted to share my good excuse for taking a break  Grin  My son will be 2 weeks old tomorrow!!! Once we settle into a good routine, I'll be able to get back to my sewing machine a bit more.

(Oh yes, almost 10 lbs.!!!!!)

OnlySiamese, that is VERY pretty!!!

Alas, baby is coming Thursday and my quilt is not done.  But that is what 2am feedings are for, right  Grin

Thanks, everyone!

Looks adorable! I have wanted to make dresses like this for my DD, but I'm still a novice sewer.

How do you attach the skirt part to the tank top? Is it difficult? Huh

It's not.  What I did is cut the tank where I wanted it, turned the skirt part inside out and placed it over the shirt and matched the seams.  then sewed it up Smiley

The promised "action" shot...this is what we got when we told her to "strike a pose" *lol*

really cute!
And I have had to use a bear in so many of my shots, I giggled when I saw yours.
Maybe they need to get together and share model storys........
S

hee hee.  That happens when my sewing time is when my kids are sleeping Smiley

Thanks for the comments!

Using a too short tank top and some leftover fabric from another project...excuse the model...

I will try and get some action shots tomorrow  Grin

I did browse the craftster tutes, but didn't see what I was looking for.  I took measurements from a dress I had and am working at it.  Thanks for all the replies!

Looking for size 3T. I have SO much cute fabric I need to get sewing, now that my diaper sewing days are over. I don't want a pillowcase dress, more of something like this:

Any ideas? Links?

Yes, I am so glad this is a year long one!  I have #3 coming shortly and need to make diapers, so my quilt is on the back burner for a couple of more weeks.  All of my flying geese units are 1/2 sewn, though, and 1/2 of those have been pressed.  Slow and steady, right?

Good thing I can operate a sewing machine with a baby in the sling Smiley
