15  firefly costume in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by jesa on: October 30, 2008 08:05:35 PM
I made a ladybug and firefly costume for my daughter this year. this is the back of the firefly, the butt has a light in it so it lights up when it's dark. I'm having trouble figuring out how to attach the lady bug arms to her - they are paper mache so pretty stiff, almost turtle-shell like and a bit heavy...any suggestions?

17  Re: 2008 Completed Costumes Scrapbook! (completed project pictures & links go here!) in Halloween Costumes by jesa on: October 30, 2008 07:44:25 PM
I made two costumes for my daughter this year, but I only have a picture of the firefly so far

paper mache wings and "butt"...I attached a belt to the butt and hooked a light up inside so it will light up in the dark

I also made paper mache ladybug wings, but I don't know how to attach them...any suggestions? when I use a simple band around the arms they are a bit too heavy and slip down her back...

18  who-terus? in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by jesa on: August 04, 2008 07:41:27 PM
YOU-terus

I haven't posted a pic on here in MONTHS due to overload with nursing school. so when I tried to post yesterday I was like -?! HOW DO I POST?! I FORGOT!! then I read the BOLD RED at the top of the page. duh.

at the end of each clinical semester we get our instructors a thank you gift. my clinical instructor this semester is a great friend of mine, she also taught our maternity and pediatrics class. so what would be more appropriate than to crochet her a uterus? I saw the pattern on knitty, but I don't know how to read patterns, and I prefer to crochet, so I winged it and I'm super happy with it. you can see at the bottom she has a little sperm friend, and you can see some of spermy's friends have already traveled up into her cervix, only their tails are showing. hope you like it!

I received more over the weekend:

top one: "here's why I hate my big brother's girl: 1. she's prettier 2. she's skinnier 3. she gets all his undivided attention. now stop asking me why!"
sender - you have something she will never have, you are his sister, no matter what you are in his life forever.
bottom one is pretty clear, my response would be wait as long as you can, enjoy being single (if you are), have fun. marriage isn't as fantastic as any fantasy, it's tough work. it's beautiful, but a lot of work.

top one: yeah. me too. but it's my only option right now  Tongue and it's really not so bad if you only take it 1 day at a time
bottom one: I like optimistic atheists much more than pessimistic ones! I no longer practice the religion I was baptised in, I don't really practice any religion.

this card is beautiful, I know there are service people in this swap and all I can say is you are amazing. I am too selfish and would feel the same way this sender did.

the back of this card says: "no, I'm not a size 8, nor is my body proportional. I have cellulite and fat rolls. I have facial hair and acne. but I (heart) myself"
thanks for this card! good to remember that beauty comes from within. I (heart) myself, too, even if I forget it sometimes!

I am going to post the cards I received today and then I'm going to post again to comment because there have been so many cards that I have related to, and I have loved them all!!

I received 5 today! JACKPOT!

the top one says "I spent the rest of the phone call trying to keep my voice even while I cried. you didn't notice"
I love this card. I remember so clearly the days I spent on the phone pretending to be all right while the pit in my stomach felt as though it was larger than my entire body, the heaviness of my heart was too much to bear. btw, this postcard also had an awesome "return address" on the back, very cute!
the bottom says "I'm completely addicted to him. I'm not sure that's a good thing." the back says "I love him"
I hope it's a good thing! I hope he loves you as much as you love him!

I love the top one...I only had a kid so I could do the same! just kidding!
and the bottom one? pm me...I'll give you some of my past. I do the opposite.

and lastly: (if your dh really looks like this and wears a skirt I love him! LOL)
