1  UNITED STATES / Tennessee / Re: Bizare Bazzar in TN? on: September 05, 2007 07:24:41 AM
I'm assuming this didn't work out for the spring/summer, but I just want to offer my help toward any future efforts! I have never organized a craft fair (I've been a vendor in my fair share), but I've got some experience in hospitality/event planning. Just PM me or e-mail me (zerlinda[at]hotpinkzebra[dot]com) if you need a hand!
2  Pennsylvania / Pennsylvania: Southwest / Re: Am I the only one in Johnstown? on: April 27, 2007 11:00:54 AM
I'm so sad that I didn't see this thread earlier! I've been desperate to find some younger crafty people/outings here in Johnstown. It's too bad that I'm moving in just 2 weeks! I hope you ladies get something started, this town is in desperate need of non-grandma crafty get togethers.

Your stuff is SO adorable, especially the barrettes! Best of luck!
4  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Re: HELP! Paypal Merchant Account, Confused! on: August 12, 2005 09:08:52 PM
nah, i think it's like a debit card, so anyone with an account can get one, and as long as you have cash in your account, you can use it.

Awesome, thanks!

Is applying for the debit card like appying for a credit card? I have to transfer money to myself about a dozen times a week, so an ATM card would be splendid. However, as I am without a credit history, I'm pretty sure I'll get turned down if they do a credit check.

When you receive money, it will go into your Paypal account. You can then transfer your Paypal funds to a checking or savings account, it usually takes 2-3 days to clear at my bank. You can also request a check from Paypal, I believe that takes about 10 days to reach you. They have the option of a Paypal debit card, which supposedly lets you spend directly from your Paypal account (I've been thinking of applying for one of these, but I'm not sure yet).

Hello! I've had a premier account for about a year now, so I'll try to answer some of your questions... First of all, you do not need a premier account in order to accept payments. You can accept instant bank transfers and echecks with a personal account. However, you will need a premier accout to accept credit or debit card payments.

When you receive any sort of payment with your premier account, you will be charged a fee (https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_display-receiving-fees-outside&countries=). The fee is taken directly from the money that was sent to you. For example, today I received a payment for $14.45. The fee for the transaction was $0.72. Paypal took out the fees before putting the money in my account, so my balance is $13.73. Fees are a bit higher to accept money from other countires, but for the most part, the fee is between $.50 and $1.50.

I used to sell on Ebay with my personal account. Even though I would always mention in the auctions that I couldn't accept credit cards, people would always try to pay with them. It was a pain to always have to deny payments, arrange for a different method of payment, etc. I had a few people back out of transactions because of it, and I'm sure I lost many other customers simply because I couldn't take credit cards. Since I upgraded to premier, my sales have multiplied tremendously (though I'm sure that isn't *entirely* due to accepting credit cards). I most definitely think that it is worth the small fee!

Hope this helped, let me know if you have any other questions!
8  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Discussion and Questions / Re: where to purchase photo emulsion on: August 03, 2005 07:12:28 AM
I purchase Speedball Diazo emulsion from www.misterart.com (decent prices, and the VIP membership is totally worth it if you screenprint a lot). Also, this stuff keeps for way longer than 2 months. I have used mine 4-5 months after mixing it without any problems, just make sure you keep it in the refrigerator. I would not recommend using it after 5 1/2 - 6 months though. I wasted two screens before I realized that my emulsion was just too old!
9  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Re: Hot Pink Zebra- please critique my site! on: August 03, 2005 07:05:05 AM
mactabilisdemens- Thank you! I have only tested my site in Internet Explorer (I'm switching computers with my fiance soon, so I'm waiting to download other browsers). In IE, everything opens where the Updates section is on the first page, and the menu bar stays in place. I'll have to research how I can also make that work in Opera.

Has anyone with Firefox viewed my site? Does everything open within that same area of the page?

10  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Re: Hot Pink Zebra- please critique my site! on: August 02, 2005 08:29:09 PM
A lot of people have suggested teal as a supplemental color, so I just went through and changed all the stars in the graphics to teal. I also changed the table border and some of the text to teal. Did I pick a good shade to match with the pink? Do you think I went overboard with the teal, or is it a good balance between both colors? I hope to have the shop section open with in a week or two, I'll start incorporating your other suggestions as soon as possible.
