1  Hats of a different feather (4 pics) in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by demitasse on: July 22, 2010 05:43:27 PM
So I like embellishing hats.  A lot.  Kind of a huge amount.  It's slowly becoming something of a national obsession (what?  I can totally declare myself a nation!).

Allow my friend Herman to model these hats for you.

The first two hats are pseudo-Victorian (note that I didn't even pretend to try for accuracy, just for something a casual passerby would look at and say "that's neat!").  The pink one was part of a Victorian/Steampunk/Whatever Princess Peach costume (that was fun to wear and gorgeous, but oh GOD did I choose the wrong fabric to make it out of. Thought I would die of heat stroke.  Protip: no matter how prettily the polyester hangs, DON'T USE IT.).  The brown one I just made for fun.  We'll see if I ever finish an outfit to wear it with.  It's so ridiculous I think the outfit will have to be simple.

The second two are embellished straw bonnets from austentation.com and the first two hats I played with.  The green with rosettes I made for a good friend of mine (it's modeled by her, too! Cheesy) for an event, the second was my own for the same event.  We drank lots of tea and tittered about hats.  And who can blame us?  Hats are delightful!

And...yes.  I kind of love feathers a lot.  Too much?  Never!

Tragically, I'm too new to post pictures apparently (oops?) so these are unfortunately links.  But please enjoy anyway!
