1  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: Looking for the perfect pattern for that perfect person :) on: January 14, 2013 10:46:16 AM
Also, if you crochet him a pair of gloves, it's an ingame item you can find. (look in the Crochet in Tv/Fiction thread. I found it and posted a picture years ago in it).

Crochet has now gotten into the gaming realm.

Yup. I looted crochet gloves in World of Warcraft. And my first thought was "OMG, must screenshot and see if anyone posted it before me in this thread!"
2  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: Doctor Who crochet things for babies on: January 14, 2013 10:19:39 AM
You could do a Dalek rattle! Make a funny marshmallow shape, shove a jingle ball in the dome, stuff, and sew to one of those rattle rings that's popular to crochet.

On the baby blanket front, you could just make it TARDIS blue... And if you made it swirly, you could say they can claim that it's the baby's name written in circle Gallifreyan...

Hats are always handy, and can be as simple or crazy as you want. I'm currently stitching up a hat for my SIL in the colors of the German flag. She wants a scarf to match but *ugh*. Will defo have to go through my stitch dictionaries to find a non-boring way to make one for her.

FreakieGeekie - I love that book! I had a roommate from heck ruin my copy that I'd inherited from my Gma... Then I got a new copy from the Goodwill for $2. The squeal heard through the shop freaked out many people.

YKYACW you debate breaking your yarn diet for your sister in law (who you're surprised is still putting up with your brother after all these years). She's from Germany, and can't find a hat/scarf set in the flag colors, so you start digging through all of your boxes of yarn, praying you have yellow.

YKYACW your other sister wants to learn how to crochet so you link her to the Craftster crochet FAQ.

YKYACW It's 5am on a Saturday, your wrist hurts, so knitting/crochet is out of the question. What do you do? Start reading the original YKYACW thread cause you're bored.

YKYACW you get bored one day, and whip out a Blue Eyes White Dragon using the amigurumi pattern someone posted on Craftster years ago... Then make the dragon a hat and scarf... then a bathrobe with the Kaiba Corp logo, since a local anime convention has a "In The Bath" cosplay contest, and your SO often goes as Seto... And are debating making two more heads to match and jury rigging up a way to make them easily detatchable, so he can have Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon....

YKYACW you're tempted to steal back your dress form from your mother to make a cosplay outfit, even though you can't sew to save your life, because you know someone on here has probably done your idea, and made an easy tute of it.
6  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: Crochet in Fiction (Movies, TV, Books) on: February 19, 2012 12:13:40 AM
Watching Nadia G's Bitchen Kitchen on Cooking channel, and in the opening, when she explains what will happen, "Hans teaches us to crochet!" *Hans ripped w/o a shirt with crochet in hand* "Like a MAN!!!"

I just couldn't stop giggling! Looked like he was using a tunisian hook.

YKYACW Your bf knows you're making something for xmas for him, and the pattern is on Craftster... So whenever a page on the site loads, he goes "Oooh! Oooh! I want to see!" Even when it's not in the right category. (I've been reading three pages on this thread, and he keeps doing it. So cute!)

YKYACW you can't decide which of these comic strips would make a better tshirt...

So, if the guy who makes the strip doesn't make them, like you nicely asked (Threatened him with the DPN's of Doom), you're sooo totally going to steal your mom's new printer, and make iron on transfers so you can make your own.
9  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: You know you're a Craftster when... (part THREE!) on: June 08, 2010 11:55:14 AM
YKNYAW - you realized that you spent more money on shipping your latest swaps than on phone cards to call your partner/girlfriend/boyfriend/sexytimes friend.

YKYACW You rationalize this by thinking "I can use Skype to call him/her, and it has the added bonus of being free w/ webcammy action. Which leaves more money for craft supplies/swap shipping. S/he will understand, surely?"
10  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: You know you're a Craftster when... (part THREE!) on: February 14, 2010 03:30:19 PM
YKYACW you cry when the doctor bans you from knitting and crocheting 5 hours before the opening ceremonies for the olympics (cause you wanted to be in your first knitting olympics this year)
