1  Table Runner Turned Valance in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by ufmichael on: December 04, 2006 08:34:55 AM
I recently picked up a colorful table runner at Target to match my existing placemats.  I decided it would make an excellent valance for my window treatments.  This is also my first attempt at sewing sheer curtains (not easy!)  I discovered that using a smaller stitch reduces puckering.  It's hard to tell from the picture, but the seams aren't finished on the sheer curtain.  I just cut them as clean as I could and called it a day. Comments welcome!

2  Refurbished Ikea Dresser in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by ufmichael on: November 22, 2006 08:42:46 AM
Hi, I thought I'd share pics of my recently refurbished Ikea dresser.  Since I don't have much experience (not to mention space/materials) refurbishing furniture, I thought I would spruce up my Ikea dresser with wood patterned contact paper.  This material allowed me the option of ripping it off if I didn't like the result.  Instead, I'm quite pleased with how it turned out.  I'm toying with the idea of decoupaging contact paper and then applying that to another Ikea style bookshelf.  For now, here are the fruits of my first contact paper refurbishment:
