1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Hey Hottie, Got Hot-Tea? on: August 15, 2009 04:25:35 PM
Flickr's recent weird downtime for groups & sets isn't going to allow me to link to the transfers I used, but I put a link to what I think is the right page in my most recent blog post ( http://www.whatmegmakes.com/?p=798 ) about these projects -- because I know you'll ask!

It only took me a few hours to finish Ms. Hottie, she's my first embroidery project in years!  She's about 7 inches tall on a tea towel.

Here's a photo of her in progress...

& I loved the series so much I've started another tea towel!

Head over to my blog for larger photos, just click on them in the post for the larger versions.
2  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Red Onion Guacamole *SUPERBOWL FAVORITE* on: January 22, 2009 03:44:41 PM
Every year my family has old friends over for the superbowl, and every year someone makes guacamole loaded with red onion!  My fiancee has me make this whenever he picks up avocados at the market.

The recipe is here:

3  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Cream of Leftover Chicken and Rice Soup on: January 14, 2009 05:04:15 PM
I love any creamy soup with corn!  I made this soup when it first started getting cold, blogged about it, but totally forgot to post it over here!

It's really simple!  The base recipe is here along with my post about it.  You can keep the same basic ratio and increase and decrease the amounts to how much of each stuff you want.

This soup has become a favorite with my family.  My grandma has invited me over to her house to make it, my mom has invited me home to make it for me... it's total family comfort food.  It's the kind of soup you sit around the table and sip while sharing stories of the past and present.

I hope you enjoy it too!
4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Reusable Tea Bags! on: January 07, 2009 03:00:37 PM
I made these because my fiancee has a thing for Thai Milk Tea, but not for the tea that gets through the infuser and nylon bags.  I made these as a solution!  I blogged about them in more detail here: http://whatmegmakes.com/?p=121

5  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Machine Needle Organization on: January 02, 2009 06:05:12 PM
I just wanted to know, how do you organize your machine needles?  Do you keep them in a drawer somewhere or do you have an organizer for them?

I want to collect everyone's ideas before I make something for my mom and myself.  We both take our machines to different places, so keeping our needles in a drawer isn't an option.  We have those rolling sewing machine totes, but I'd like to have something else for the needles that I can put into the tote.

Any links or pictures much appreciated!
6  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Looking for similar patterns... on: October 12, 2004 02:37:48 PM
http://www.anthropologie.com/jump.jsp?itemID=2679&itemType=PRODUCT&iSubCat=357&iMainCat=336

I'm looking for some similar patterns to that wrap ^^  I plan on making up my own pattern... but I want to see others to help base mine on.  For the last few days I've been looking online... but can't seem to find anything.  Do you have any helpful links?  Please share...
