1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Tea Towel Tour Gallery - As seen on TTTV on: October 12, 2009 10:34:56 PM
Gatsby!!! LOVE the chihuahua. It reminds me of a group I was a part of on myspace called "obey the chihuahua!" it fits perfectly in my house, as all my chihuahuas are the rulers of the place. thanks so much!!
Mego! I love the lion as well! so cute! I wanted to dress on of the pups up as a lion, then i thought about dressing them up as the 3 amigos. but i haven't had a chance to find tiny sombreros.

You know I was totally going to do the sublime stitching chi, but I also had this lion that I couldn't resist!!  It reminded me of our chi who just passed away in July, he always had a lion's mane!

Love the chihuahua Bri!  It totally reminds me of the chihuahua attitude Cheesy  Thanks for getting a photo of my lion Cheesy

Oh my goodness!!!! I'm loving everything that's getting churned out Cheesy  I've been super busy this last month with school, but things are slowing down finally.  I can't wait to see the final photos of all the towels -- we're getting close!

fenifer -- OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!  That's going to be VERY hard to top!  The irony almost made me pee my pants...
This afternoon my fiance and I had a conversation about tattoos we would potentially get, and this was the first time we actually came up with tattoos we'd follow through on getting.  I call him "Honey Bear" and he calls me "Cupcake."  Yeah, you pretty much nailed the tattoo for him!  I can't wait to show him in the morning Cheesy

I think you made a good decision to use a different image.  He does not seem to want his art to be used by other people.  Smiley

You answered your own question:
Quote
his creative commons tag on the drawing says this: No Derivative Works You may not alter, transform, or build upon this work.

For the purposes of this swap it is not acceptable to copy something someone doesn't want copied.  For purposes outside this swap in a case where you are not selling the item you would have to use your own judgement.

i am using another image, but i think there is a gap between what i provided and what is interpreted. Wink he has a creative commons on it: the image can be used, i was just wondering how one would define "alter, transform, or build upon" in terms of embroidery. haha. *shrug* either way, the smarter (and only appropriate) choice for this swap is to simply use another image! Cheesy

I tag my photographs and stuff as No Derivative because I don't want people altering one single thing and then calling it their own.  My local newspaper pulled that on one of my photos!  I found out about my photo being printed while I was reading the newspaper in the student union at my university... uhm, yeah, everyone in there that day heard some choice words.
If someone contacted me about doing an interpretation of something of mine in embroidery while still giving me credit, I'd be totally flattered!

Just got mego's towel finished in the nick of time and sent out today after a five hour embroidery marathon last night. I'm pretty proud of myself for being on time.

Thanks sixblueirises!  I have a feeling I'm going to be doing the same to meet my deadline Cheesy Thank goodness we're going on a day trip friday, plenty of time to embroider in the car!

Kitten Wrangler -- wow!!!  Awesome flowers!  I don't think I would have had the patience for all of that satin stitch!

milik -- I love the hearts Cheesy  So is your towel theme now officially videogames??  Or do you still want a little randomness?  Just making sure since I'm lying in wait to get my hands on your towel!

& I love your representation of those lasers!  I've never heard about them doing that, it looks awesome!
