3  Re: Question: How to make tighter chain? in Crochet: Discussion and Questions by foreversandals on: February 16, 2009 07:02:40 AM
Okay... let's see if this helps.

Here are the two loops that starberrii was talking about.

See how there's a sort of "V" in the stitches made by the two loops?
Those are the two loops you should be crocheting through. Both should go on your hook and that will make the chain tighter.

As well, here is what I was mentioning for more of a finished look.

If you go through that single loop on the back, it will give you the finished look.
The only problem with that, is its tough to get a tighter chain.

When you do make your chain, make sure you just squeeze your hook through the loop. With the pointier part of the hook in the bottom of the stitch [the part that kinda looks like a "V"]. That will make your chain tighter and will definitely help when you go down a hook size.

Does that help?

4  Re: Yarn Swap for Rapunzel Scarf Rd 5 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by foreversandals on: December 05, 2008 01:09:06 PM
And here's how I made my scarf [which I love!]...

First I separated all the yarn...

Then I put them into three piles [I wanted to make sure everything was distributed evenly]. I put all the yarns together, tied a knot, and started braiding.

My table leg held the knot down and I kinda bunched the ends together and braided.

And here are the results!!

[This shows almost the whole length. It wraps around my neck twice and hangs down right about to my waist.]

And here's me very happy with my beautiful jewel-toned Rapunzel scarf!

Thanks so much to all the ladies who I tried yarn with and thanks again to myklia to guiding me in this organizing thing!

Here are the yarns I got from CRE8V!
There are some great textures and yarns!

The front left is more purple and less than red than it showed up in the pics.

Wow myklia! You've got some awesome yarns... I can't wait to see the whole scarf!

I received from pinupmommy today!
She sent me some gorgeous yarns.
What you can't see in the pictures is how some of the yarns sparkle a little bit.

9  3 Diaper Cakes! in Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies by foreversandals on: November 09, 2008 02:55:23 PM
One of the girls in our church small group is expecting, so naturally we needed to have a church baby shower for her. Her mom organized, but us girls in the group helped with decorating and food. I made a simple fruit tray, but my friend Jenny and I put together three (!) diaper cakes for her. One pink, one yellow, and one blue... they don't know what they're having.

Here they are!

10  Basketweave Baby Blanket [Pics with Baby Added!] in Crochet: Completed Projects by foreversandals on: November 01, 2008 05:13:32 PM
I made this for my beautiful goddaughter.
I started with a 3x3 basketweave in Lionbrand Homespun. But then I ran out of the purple so I added the multicolor as a thick border since it didn't look very blanket-ish.

Here are the promised pics with my goddaughter:

And a fun closeup

Once I get a pic of her with the blanket, I'll be sure to post it.
