1  my snow storm project - a fair isle hat! in Knitting: Completed Projects by pertelot on: February 07, 2010 10:47:59 AM
This is my second attempt with fair isle, my first was an attempt at a mitten that did not end too well.  I do wish it was a tad bit longer but overall I am very happy with it!

The pattern can be found here on ravelry:  http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/picot-hem-stranded-snowflake-hat

or here right on the authors blog http://kathleen-dakotadreams.blogspot.com/2007/11/freebie-friday-picot-hem-snowflake-hat.html

Its not lumpy I swear! I shoved a sweatshirt in it so I could get a picture of the top

and the inside, just becuase i thought it was cool looking

I've received from calsters and pantsafari!

From calsters
Some of these are so soft mmmmm

From pantsafari
I think the green ribbon yarn with some shiny in it may be my favorite, but they are all lovely

I am still waiting on my package from nostephot sadly, and I am starting to get a little worried.  Sometimes campus mail can be a bit sluggish so I am still keeping my fingers crossed Sad

7  Teal and Brown Baby Quilt in Quilting: Completed Projects by pertelot on: September 17, 2009 12:28:19 PM
My cousin just recently had another boy (i hoped to make a quilt for a girl this time  Roll Eyes ) and I wanted to get  a bit away from the traditional pale blue.  I started by scoring the adorable flannel monkey background fabric and I was definitely in love with it! I was secretly hoping to have some of it left over for myself...

The whole thing... it's a bit big for a baby quilt... he'll grow into it  Roll Eyes

The animal batik was rather awesome, so each big block was fussy cut so an animal was in the middle, and later I hand quilted around each of the animals with a variegated thread that's a bit hard to see in the picture. The rest of the quilting is just stitch in the ditch except for some squiggly lines

And last the backing.... because it's awesome

i got it!!!!!! pictures shortly  pictures! I'm so happy I finally received my myb from Nevn, and everything was awesome!

First the box when I opened it

And the whole lot:
chopsticks with a pretty cherry blossom design, winnie the pooh pencils, two packs of Disney stickers, a circular needle, three packs of hot chocolate and three vanilla chai tea bags (perfect for the icky rainy day outside), some tootsie roll pops, a bag of chocolate that did not make it unopened to the picture, a little beta castle, a note pad and mini sharpie, four darn cute little tins, sushi stitch markers, two catnip fortune cookies, some more stitch markers, a crocheted cupcake, a crocheted beta fish, a canister of buttons, and a rapunzel scarf

I love the scarf and its the perfect length! I only took it off so far for the group shot

Here's the little castle next to my cell phone for size. Nven said this was made by her husband, it's so awesome, look at the detail painted on that thing!

Some of the beads fell off the edge of the sushi stitch markers but I still <3 them, I just need to find some glue

The fortune cookies are so cute, my cats will love them

I wanted to get a picture of my beta next to the crocheted one, but you can see in the background my fish was flaring his gills at it!

Thanks Nven!! I'm so glad the post office didn't eat my package

9  Giant hearts! ... and cows? in Quilting: Completed Projects by pertelot on: September 07, 2009 11:01:26 AM
My sister had gotten me all the fabric for this quilt for Christmas, it's a little brighter then I would normally go but I still love the results.  The pattern was really nifty, there are only 3 different blocks in the whole quilt and the giant hearts are made just by changing some colors.  It may be a bit hard to see but i swear there are 3 hearts in the quilt!

You can kindof see the third heart in the top left corner, unfortunately that green had a good amount of pink in it so it blended into the background

A close up of the cows and the awesome backing fabric.  I love seeing their little faces peering over from every direction

And a close up of the quilting on the borders, on the larger borders it was my first time using free motion quilting on a stenciled design on the quilt, I think it went rather well

After coming across quite a few zippers at a flea market I have been going on a little wristlet making binge and heres what I have done so far

my mom said the blue ones look a bit childish, I am not too sure though

the linings are nothing special, but the gingham ones still make me smile Smiley
