LOL thats cute - you did a beautiful job, and I'm sure Ian will love it!

Here's a pattern for a football pillow in case you'd like to whip up another present ... http://sewing.about.com/library/weekly/aa112697.htm ... I'm up early this morning because my 17 year old left for early football practice - now that you have me thinking about football, I think I'll make him a football pillow as a Christmas present, lol.

162  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Re: birthday gift ideas... He likes dragons on: November 23, 2006 03:58:46 AM
I don't know that these are particularly "Chinese" dragons, but I did find the following:
- SIMPLICITY 4063 is a stuffed dragon in 3 sizes (there's one available on ebay if you do a search - that way you can see a picture of the pattern) (not free)
- http://www.wyrm.org.uk/cuddly/ - "Cuddly Dragons and other AFDenizens" (free)
- Draco the Dragon pin @ http://members.tripod.com/%7Ewingsnthings/draco.htm (free)
- knit dragon (but I didn't find a picture of the finished project) @ http://homepage.ntlworld.com/crispin.roche/dragon.txt (free)
- cross-stitch dragons - could do the pattern and make a pillow from it - several links listed here for free patterns -  http://www.birdcrossstitch.com/CrossStitch/guide2.html#dragons

I hope you find something that works!

163  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Flower Lights with tutorial! on: November 23, 2006 03:44:58 AM
This is a fabulous idea!  Christmas lights are out now and available very inexpensively (and if you can wait until after Christmas, they'll be even cheaper!).  I was originally going to make 2 sets - one for me, and one for a niece - the more I got thinking about it, the more people I thought of that would have fun with this.  I think I'm going to buy about 6 sets of lights and make these as Christmas presents !  Thanks for the idea, and for the tutorial Smiley

I have a scrollsaw, and one year I cut out stockings from thin wood using a cookie cutter as a pattern.  I painted them and decorated the "cuff" with white crafting snow.  I drilled a hole in the top corner and added a ribbon hanger.  I tucked them in my Christmas cards that year, and made a bunch more for friends and for my kids.  These are quite handy to have a stash of for unexpected gifts as well - you can tuck one into tissue paper and a small gift bag and be ready for unexpected visitors Wink

If you don't have access to a scrollsaw, wooden shapes are inexpensive and available at most dollar stores, Wal-Mart, Michaels etc.

P.S.  Now that I think about it, I think I'll go cut out a batch this weekend and get some ready for THIS Christmas, lol.
