1  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Lots and lots of crocheted toys! (Lots of pictures too) on: June 07, 2010 02:35:07 PM
I've been crocheting like a crazy person lately with custom crochet toys.  I'm pretty happy with how they've been turning out, and it's great to get the practice in!

I work from my own patterns, which sometimes can be the most annoying part, but I always feel like I've accomplished something when I'm finished.

Now onto the pictures!  Pictures are in thumbnails, so you can click to make it bigger.

Red Panda (one of my favorites, I seriously didn't want to ship this because I wanted to keep it!):

I've made a ton more, but these are some of my favorites.  I figure too, this is a great way to destash my yarn!
2  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Song Bird Wall Art on: April 14, 2010 02:56:29 PM

I am so proud of these!  I was inspired by Silvana's wedding invitations (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=342865.0)

These are above my bed.  That wall has been empty and blue for the past 10 months and I've been wanting to decorate it forever but I have no money, so I figured I'd make something with stuff I already have.

The black frames were from painting canvases from a stupid painting class I had to take in college (we had to pay $500+ for supplies just to learn how to paint squares).  I ripped the canvases off and there was a nice wood frame that I painted black.

The birds were fun to make.  I found bird silhouettes on Google that I liked, printed them out to use as a stencil.  I then traced the silhouette onto a Cheerio box and cut them out.  For the music on the birds, I first coffee dyed the paper so it isn't just white.  When the paper dried I printed piano sheet music onto them, which were cut into strips and glued to the birds.  The birds were then hot glued to the frames and I used wooden dowels glued to the back of the birds for extra support.

At this point I thought I was done, but it looked too empty, so I stapled yarn to the frames which gave them a birdcage feel.

I then stapled black lace to hang the frames by, and added a bow to hide the screw that was used to hang them up.

So technically I didn't have to pay for anything (right now, I did earlier), so it was free art!  I am in love with these Smiley

3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Wedding Craft Ideas on: April 05, 2010 11:21:12 PM
A couple of Fridays ago (March 26th) my boyfriend surprised me by proposing!!

The wedding isn't until July 2011, so we have time to plan, and I have time to craft Smiley
I'm looking for ideas on what I can craft for the wedding, but nothing too hard so I don't spread myself too thin.

Here's what I've come up with to make:
-Ring Bearer Pillow
-Flower Girl Basket (or at least put ribbon on it to match the pillow)
-Bread Basket (the fiance and I are big bread lovers, so we're going to have a bread basket at our table)
-Wedding Cake Topper
-Bridesmaid's presents

What are some other fun/easy things I can make?

Now for pictures:

Ring (the picture doesn't do it justice.  It looks like a princess ring!)
4  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Hanging Monkey on: March 16, 2010 07:32:35 PM
I made this monkey to help my sister recover from knee surgery.  As far as I know, he's been doing his job  Cheesy

He hangs from his tail!

5  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Daisy Duck on: August 22, 2009 02:53:41 PM
My niece's 2nd birthday is on the 27th and I've been told that she's really into Daisy Duck right now, so I made my own version of her!  I love how it turned out Smiley

I was also messing around with putting her in a "party scene" instead of just having a white background
6  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Hamster Housewarming? on: June 09, 2009 08:01:03 PM
My sister just moved into a new apartment, and she got herself a new roommate - a black and white dwarf hamster!  I'm making her a housewarming gift, but I thought it would be cute to put in a housewarming gift for her hamster.  I'm not sure what crafts can be made for dwarf hamsters because they're soooo tiny.  Any ideas?

Thanks!
7  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Jellyfish! on: May 06, 2009 01:38:45 PM
I made some jellyfish the other day Smiley  I love how they turned out!

8  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Spring Fever! Amigurumi Flowers on: April 06, 2009 06:57:38 PM
Spring fever leads to spring amigurumis!

First we have multiple flowers in white, light pink, magenta, purple, and turquoise.

Next we have a dandelion.  He's so cute and innocent looking, who would have guessed he's a weed?

Now I'm working on making a bunny (possible for my niece), but sadly I ran out of yarn and Michael's here doesn't carry it  Angry
9  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Looking for 3 people to test a pattern *COMPLETE* on: March 20, 2009 12:17:30 PM
Found 3 people to test.  I wasn't expecting people to want to test so quickly  Smiley  Gotta love Craftster!  Thank you so much!

I've never written a pattern before until now, and I would like some people to try it out to see if it's coherent  Cheesy  The pattern is for my flower person:

Please let me know if you'd be interested in testing it!
Thanks!
10  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Red Penguin on: December 28, 2008 09:34:31 PM
My sister said she wanted a red penguin with a bow tie for Christmas, and that's exactly what she got!
