1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Use a Subway bag to store other Grocery Bags!! on: December 28, 2011 09:39:45 PM
So this isn't really anything that I made, but I had one of those "Ah ha" moments today. Use a Subway bag to store other grocery bags!! Cut one corner off to use as the dispenser. The long skinny shape of the bag makes for more compact storage, kind of similar to those fabric bag holders I've seen made before. I love seeing those simple cheap ideas that make life a little easier Cheesy
2  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Cutesie Photo Collage Wall Hanging on: July 19, 2010 09:53:42 PM
I always have trouble deciding what board to post my randomness on... so I decided on "Home Sweet Home" since its technically a decoration.

I made this for my niece's 16th birthday present, and it turned out to be one of my favorite creations!!

I pieced together some random fabric scraps... had some of our favorite pictures printed in wallet size... sewed them on... then added embellishments such as buttons, bows, ribbon, silk flowers, shapes cut from fabric, made some random stitches with embroidery floss, and Viola!! a photo collage wall hanging Smiley

the one in the red glasses is me!!

8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Talladega 500 Tuxedo T-shirt on: October 25, 2008 10:20:36 AM
A friend of mine went to the Talladega 500 nascar race a few weeks ago, and with us both being fans of the movie Talladega Nights, I just had to make him a tuxedo t-shirt to wear to the race.

I just freehanded it with white fabric paint onto a black t-shirt.  I wish I had close up pictures of the shirt before I gave it to him, but he emailed me the ones he had.

He said he got alot of response from people at the race. This is him in front of the Talladega Superspeedway:

This is what he wanted the back to say: "If ya aint first yer last" it looks kind of sloppy it was last minute

9  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / My friends' very colorful summer wedding**image obese** on: October 06, 2008 08:18:07 PM
My entire summer was spent helping my friend Cara plan her wedding.  Im posting this to show how beautiful everything turned out.  Some things were made by me, some things were made by her, and some things were store bought.  I'll let you know which is which as the pictures progress...

Lets start out with the cake, it was made by a friend of her mom's and designed by Cara with cake photos from the internet as her inspiration:

the whole cake table (cara painted the "I DO" letters:

Here is the Bride with all her bridesmaids (I am the one in the orange in on the far right)  her colors were mulberry, persimmon, dark purple, and light green.  each girl had a bouquet opposite the color of her dress the dresses were storebought:

close up of the bride's bouquet,  the bridesmaids bouquets were made the same just in solid colors.  each girl's bouquet had an initial charm on it: (i made the bouquets by the way, cara helped)

Here is the groom with all his groomsmen (my boyfriend is the one in the pink on the far right Smiley)  each guy's tie was opposite his shirt:

and what we loved but her parents hated Cheesy the groomsmen wore flipflops!!

I made the flower girl basket and ring pillow (this pic was taken after the flower girl had carried the basket around all day and the handle started to ravel):

some centerpieces at the reception:

the bridal party table, cara painted the K initial, and i dont have a close up of the place card holders but theyre winecorks and we altered paint samples in the wedding colors as the place cards:

the whole bridal party after marching out, you can really see how pretty the colors are in this pic:

my boyfriend caught the garter!! ha ha here we are:

10  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / "College Survival Kit" for friend graduating high school...ideas? on: May 11, 2008 12:24:33 AM
My friend who is a couple of years younger than me is graduating high school and for her graduation present I was thinking of putting together a "college survival kit" of items and advice that i wish people had given me before i started college.  Here's some things that I've already thought of:

*umbrella
*rainboots
*scantrons (at my school you have to buy your own, i dont know if its the same everywhere else)
*highlighters
*notecards
*those little post-it page tabs
*Ramen noodles
*also ill probably include some advice on what teachers to take and not to take since she is going to the same college as me
*a list of possible excuses to use when you didnt write that paper thats due today

It seems like i thought of more things but they're not coming to mind at the moment.  But can anyone think of anything else?  more college advice or things to add to the loot?  She is one of my really close friends so i plan on spending quite a bit on her so any ideas you have would be appreciated...
