2  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Personal & Professional Flickr: 1 for both or 2 seperate ones? on: May 23, 2007 01:36:05 PM
Hi,

I am about to open my etsy store and would like to get your opinion on this:

I have a flickr site (photo sharing site).  At first it was to share photos with friends and family.  Since starting my flickr, I started sewing and crafting so I have been putting photos of my items on flickr to share with friends, family, the flickr community and so that I can show photos on Craftster.

Now that I will have an Etsy store, should I seperate the personal from the professional photos?  Is it important?

Here are a few solutions I have thought of:
1) Make a new flickr account for my etsy store.  Use my etsy store name for my new flickr.
2) Hide my personal photos on my flickr account so that only friends and family can see.  Make professional photos viewable to everyone... so I can keep everything at 1 site.
3) Don't add links to my flickr on Etsy so it doesn't matter if I mix my craft pics with personal pics.

My personal pics are just photos of my friends, family, cat, trips etc... nothing weird or inappropriate for kids to see.

I am leaning towards #2.  I don't really want to do #1 because there are people who have added me to their contacts after they have seen stuff I have made.  I think this could be a good place to advertise my new items to people who liked my old ones.

Thanks for any input!
3  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Craftster Itself / craftster won't update on my computer! please help! on: March 29, 2007 12:00:47 PM
For some reason, any page on www.craftster.org. will not update on my original work computer (I am now using a different computer but it's not the one at my desk).  If I click on the Bookmarks button, it shows nothing has been updated as of yesterday (but I can tell lots of them have been updated when I am using a different computer).  This is also the case when I click on "show unread posts since last visit" and "show new replies to your post".  I have tried restarting my computer, opening craftster.org in new windows, and both did not help.

This is not happening to any other website I go to.  Did I mistakenly click on some funtion?

Sorry I didn't know what to search for so I didn't search, but if there is a thread about this problem please post it so I can read craftster!! *cry*
4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / name swap? on: January 12, 2007 03:31:39 PM
i just thought of this but maybe it's been done before.

what about a swap based on your interpretation of your swap partner's screen name?  then you'd end up with a collection of personalized stuff for your online persona.  this might be something more for ATCs i guess but i just wanted to throw this idea out there.

6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / You have inspired me... on: December 13, 2006 02:46:35 PM
Hi! I'm new at sewing and new at Craftster.  All of your tuts have been really helpful and just seeing what you guys can do has kept me churning out this year's stash of xmas gifts since I got my sewing machine a month ago.

Here's what I've been up to..

Shopping Tote

Pyramid Bag, longer version Pyramid bag to be used as pencil case

Mini Fanny Packs

Cosmetic Bag - I used 2-sided interfacing instead of adding lining (cuz i didn't know how to...)

another cosmetic bag? This was my attempt with a lowered zipper, but then I had to hide the raw edges in the top corners with an extra little piece of fabric on each side. buttons are just for show... well, really they're there to divert your attention so you don't wonder why there are random pieces of fabric flapping around.

I'm still doing simple projects but hopefully I'll graduate to more complicated ones soon  Cheesy  THANKS FOR ALL THE TUTS! KEEP THEM COMING!
