Ray- I'm so glad you liked everything!  Haha I'm not sure if Kampire really appreciates being used as a stitch marker hanger! (by the way, he can also double as a pin cushion  Tongue)

amberbrown- that apron is so cute!

SHOUTOUT TO HEINI:  Thanks Heini for your help with the crochet hook case I made for r.brumback!
A little explanation for everyone else:  When I found out that Ray liked to crochet, a crochet hook case immediately came to mind.  But since I know absolutely nothing about crocheting I wasn't sure what big the pockets in the case should be, I didn't know how big crocheting hooks were, how many sizes there were, how many people normally have, what else is used in crotcheting, etc etc, so I sent a PM to a total stranger, but also fellow craftster, with some questions about the case she made before.  Heini was such a sweetie and answered all of my annoying questions in much detail so that I could complete my newbie swap successfully.  Thanks again, Heini!

"Gorilla nibbling grass, sitting opposite trees"

i think the black tree was cut out from paper  Shocked  very intricate!

weeeeeeee! I recieved my package from r.brumbrack! BUT.. my photo sharing site (flickr) is "having a massage" (seriously, that's what the site says!) so I can't upload pics yet.  I won't spoil the surprise for you with any comments.  Tongue You'll just have to wait!

***EDIT***
flickr is back up!

fingerless mittens fit perfectly!

close up of fortune cookie, oreo, turtle, kumihimo, bookmark and closed sewing box (tyler the turtle helped me close it properly).  My kitty already tried to run away with a fortune cookie as I was taking the pics.  I'll have to keep a closer eye on him...

THANK YOU R.BRUMBACK!!!

My grandma and mom didn't have sewing machines to pass down to me  Sad so I had to get by on my own: As superficial as it may seem, I just couldn't let a green sewing machine pass me by!

stick- Your work area is so tidy!

My stack of fabric is getting bigger (and heavier).  How does everyone organize their fabric?  There must be a better way than stacking it the way I do!

hmm it seems the cat lovers need some representing!
I have cats and I really don't know anything about them either.  They eat and sleep... they're not very interesting I suppose.

it's true, Haku does a lot of sleeping, but it's so darn cute to watch him.

this is Haku passed out in his bed located above our kitchen cabinets.

and this is Haku blocking the light while he sleeps.

and to keep this post somewhat thread-related: Where art thou, 2 newbies?!

18  You have inspired me... in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by foolily on: December 13, 2006 02:46:35 PM
Hi! I'm new at sewing and new at Craftster.  All of your tuts have been really helpful and just seeing what you guys can do has kept me churning out this year's stash of xmas gifts since I got my sewing machine a month ago.

Here's what I've been up to..

Shopping Tote

Pyramid Bag, longer version Pyramid bag to be used as pencil case

Mini Fanny Packs

Cosmetic Bag - I used 2-sided interfacing instead of adding lining (cuz i didn't know how to...)

another cosmetic bag? This was my attempt with a lowered zipper, but then I had to hide the raw edges in the top corners with an extra little piece of fabric on each side. buttons are just for show... well, really they're there to divert your attention so you don't wonder why there are random pieces of fabric flapping around.

I'm still doing simple projects but hopefully I'll graduate to more complicated ones soon  Cheesy  THANKS FOR ALL THE TUTS! KEEP THEM COMING!
