1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Chances on: September 24, 2010 05:51:04 PM
I really like this quote and decided to stitch it up out of boredom today.

I like the way the words came out, but I can't decide whether to add two more flowers (one on either end of the vine) at the bottom, or just take out those three stitches on either end.  Any ideas?

2  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / George Carlin Tribute on: September 22, 2010 06:46:57 AM
George Carlin has always been one of my favorite comedians and I decided to pay tribute to him in one of my favorite crafty mediums - Cross stitch.

These are Mr. Carlin's famous "7 Dirty Words"

I've been working on these off and on over the last couple of months and am more than relieved to finally be done.  Now I have to start searching for frames.
3  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Crocheted Stockings on: December 22, 2009 07:18:05 PM
I decided to make everyone stockings this year since stocking stuffers were more within my budget than big ticket items.  I made six total, two of each color combination, and I'm really happy with how they turned out.

4  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / First try at filet crochet on: August 09, 2009 10:20:08 AM
As the title says, this is my first try at filet crochet.
I wanted to try it, but didn't want to do a difficult pattern and I still wanted the initial result to be something I would use, so here it is:

The finished size is about 6"x12".  It's a bit sloppy, but I'm happy with the result.
5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Shrink Plastic Earrings on: March 30, 2009 07:19:58 PM
I found a bunch of Shrink Plastic in my craft stuff over the weekend, and decided I should try making some jewelry.  These are my first two pairs of earrings.

I'm really pleased with the black & white ones.  I think the butterfly ones would've turned out way better if I had a super fine tip Sharpie.

6  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Peace, Freedom, Love Cross-stitch on: January 02, 2009 08:07:30 AM
I made this for my brother's girlfriend for Christmas.
The stitching is just a simple backstitch alphabet that I doubled the size of.  It's in a 10x20 frame.  I covered the mat with wrapping paper that I had and chose the embroidery floss colors to match the wrapping paper..

7  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Embroidered Pillowcase on: January 02, 2009 08:01:22 AM
I made this pillowcase for a friend for Christmas.
I had seen a similar one somewhere, and thought the idea was hilarious.

I've only embroidered one other thing before, so it's not incredibly neat.  I lined the inside edge of the pillowcase with black gingham (which you can see in the second photo) to cover up the back of the embroidery.

8  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Crocheted wire Necklaces on: December 15, 2008 08:08:49 PM
These are a couple necklaces I made for Christmas gifts.

Pink & Black glass beads with pearls on silver wire with matching earrings:

9  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Living on Dreams on: December 15, 2008 08:00:40 PM
I stitched this up as a Christmas gift for a friend.
It's a line from the Martina McBride song, "This One's For the Girls," and it hits a little bit too close to home sometimes.

I just wrapped a normal mat for a picture frame with scrapbooking paper, decorated with some scrapbooking stickers and accented the frame with a little bit of ribbon/ric rac.

I'm pretty happy with the finished product.

10  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Crocheted Bathmat on: July 30, 2008 05:13:43 PM
I crocheted this rug using two old twin size flat sheets.  It took pretty much all of the blue sheet and a good amount of the yellow sheet.  The finished dimensions are about 20" x 30".  I really like the look and feel of it.  I'm pretty new to crochet, so I started with a basic rectangle, but I want to attempt an oval or circle next.

This is a picture of it in use in my kitchen, though I'm giving it to my mom and she'll likely put it in front of the vanity in their newly renovated bathroom, where it'll look much nicer:

This is a full shot of it:

And a closeup:

Thanks for looking!
