Ok how do you make the double half hitches cross in the middle?  I'm assuming it's with a square knot but...yeah technically I'm confused.  And on the bit without beads is that a square knot or series of square knots where the bead would be?  Also some info on your method of finishing it off so nicely with the spiral would be nice.

I REALLY wanna make one of these with my painted wooden beads =D

I used 10 cords this time, but I've used as many as 16 which looks great.

This should help with the cross section.  There are very good directions on there for this type of pattern.
http://www.elainecraft.com/instructions/var5.dhh.html

The center without beads is one complete square knot using the center 4 cords.  Center 2 as filler cords, outer two for the knot itself.

The finishing is called whipping.  I found this site that explains it.  http://www.inquiry.net/outdoor/skills/b-p/wb/knots.htm

Then I cut out all of the unnecessary cords and braided the rest.  For this one I cut 4 and braided 6.  This keeps the braids at the end from being too bulky to tie.

I know this comment is so wrong for something so cute but that last picture looks like amigurumi porn, lol.  I love her pigtails though =D  And the big eyes add to the kawaii factor.

I didn't even notice that. Shocked  She's so obscene.  I better get some pants on her!

23  Amigurumi Girl with HUGE button eyes in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by BabySkilz on: September 05, 2007 10:46:10 AM
I made this girl a long time ago, but I never finished her clothes.  I thought that I would post her anyways.  I love how she turned out.  Her eyes are way too big, but I kind of like it.  I noticed today that they look like sunglasses.  I also love that her hair looks like little dreads.  The shirt looking thing is actually going to be a dress if I ever finish it.  It's pretty summery though.  She will need a sweater and pants before I ever finish her dress. Smiley

24  Hemp Choker (Very IMG Heavy) updated with pattern links for knots in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by BabySkilz on: September 05, 2007 09:46:53 AM
I've been making hemp jewelry for years now, but I've never posted any.  I thought I would post one and see what everyone thinks.  This is my favorite knot pattern to use.  I also like making these into headbands.

Here is how I did the ends to make it look a little more finished.

25  Pillowcase (my first attempt at embroidery) in Needlework: Completed Projects by BabySkilz on: September 05, 2007 09:41:49 AM
Yesterday I decided that I wanted to try embroidery, so this is what I came up with.  It is an old pillowcase that I had.  I didn't have any patterns, so I had to do it freehand.  I tried several times to do a french knot, but I never could get it.  I am still very happy with how it turned out.

Sopha is my daughter's middle name.  I am half Thai and Sopha means beautiful in Thai.

Some close ups:

The center of the yellow flower is orange too, but you can't tell in this picture.

That bag is great! It looks very familiar. Cheesy

Here is mine, but I didn't add the fringe on mine.

OK, Shannon12 received my package today, so I guess it's OK to post pictures now.  I 'm anxious to know what everyone thinks.

I did a couple of smaller items.

A bookmark from her wist:

Her very own Owl:

A Hermione wand made of vine wood and dragon's heartstring (close up of Handle):

Her favorite creature is Buckbeak so....

And last, but not least, my favorite item, a fair isle knit bag in her favorite house colors.

The bag is my first completed knit project and I have never attempted fair isle knits, but I really like how it turned out.  It wasn't easy to part with it.  I'd love to know what you think.

29  Crocheted Wire and Beaded Bracelete in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by BabySkilz on: July 19, 2007 10:21:10 AM
Here is my first attempt at crocheting with wire.  It kind of just looks like a mess, but I like it anyways.

30  Earings I made a few years ago (Lot's of Pics, 10 pair) in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by BabySkilz on: July 19, 2007 08:17:27 AM
These are some earrings that I made a few years ago.  They are all very similar.  I just came across my old jewelry stash the other day so I thought I would share them.  Let me know what you think.
