Here's my first ever skein of plied yarn.  It was done on my Schact drop spindle.  I spun a thick and thin single from domestic roving after dyeing it with Kool Aid and food coloring mixed dyes.  Then, I plyed it with black sewing thread and pastel seed beads.  Then I have partially knit a garter stitch scarf from it.  Here are the pictures:

I have found these to be really vibrant too Smiley  I'm so glad I came across this thread so I could better understand how to compensate for red number 3 Smiley

Whew, that was a lot to read!!!  I'm fairly new to spinning.  I am currently knitting a shawl from my first spun yarn, pics on my blog.  I spun it on a spindle and have since ordered a wheel Smiley  I am expecting my Fricke to come by early February at the latest.

My name is Laura and I am 30 years old.  I'm a mother of two in the Austin, TX area.  My daughter is 17 months old and my son is 4 months old.  My DH and I have been together for about 12 years and married for about 8 I guess.  I suck at math Wink  I spin, knit, sew (more crafty sewing than actual well made garments, no patience for that sort of thing), do photography, machine embroidery, and a bit of beading and other crafts every once in a while.  There are few things I won't try at least once Wink

It's nice to meet you all, I can't wait to get posting on Fiber Fridays when my wheel comes!

Sorry about the lack of info in my original post, I have a sick 2 month old baby and he wouldn't let me put him down earlier so I couldn't type very well Wink  I used Reynold's smile yarn and just followed the instructions for a raglan sweater from the bottom up.  I used information from Knitting without Tears and The Sweater Workshop and just applied the math to my guage for this sweater.
