1  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: newest portrait- advice needed! (pic heavy) on: January 12, 2008 05:27:57 PM
That's a really awesome drawing. No matter what you do, your sister will love it.
2  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: My first portrait in a long time on: January 12, 2008 05:24:00 PM
Thanks guys. I'm so relieved! I asked a couple people what they thought but I didn't trust them since they're my brother or my friends. Your responses have made my day.

By the way, if you guys want to know what picture I drew of him, it's the one on the back of his book. The one on the front was covered too much by the title unfortunately. I love his facial expression.
3  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / My first portrait in a long time on: January 12, 2008 04:48:33 PM
It's been a while since I actually drew anything seriously. I used to draw portraits all the time but I'm not really into it anymore. My art teacher saw some of my old drawings and wanted me to enter one in a youth artist award thing so for the first time in a while, I took out the pencils and sketchpad and set to work.

So for my sake, can you guys guess who it is? My mind would feel so much better if people were able to recognize who it is!
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Nature Spun? on: November 30, 2007 02:21:45 PM
Hey guys. I want to knit my mom the Henley Perfected from the winter IK and am thinking of using the sport weight version. Is it soft and does it wear well? Also would their worsted weight work well for a cabled vest for my dad? Or should I go with another yarn? If the two don't seem appropriate, other recommendations would be welcome! Even more if they're reasonably priced!
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: What do you wish people had told you before you started knitting? on: August 01, 2007 03:28:41 PM
I wish people had told me that when you're doing a yo, that the yo part of it is just moving the yarn to the front. The knit stitch isn't included. If someone had told me that when I first began knitting lace, then they would have saved me 2 days worth of frustration.
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Silk-wrapped Stainless Steel on: July 16, 2007 05:30:41 AM
since I none of the websites that sell the yarn have much information about the weight/gauge.

I've seen it while at a yarn store. It's a lace weight.
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Muggles say the cutest things . . . on: July 11, 2007 04:15:02 PM
Some of these stories are funny. I get some laughs from my brother who is so clueless about knitting despite the fact that he sees me doing it constantly.

One of his questions was how to start a new row.

Him: I have a question.
Me: What is it?
Him: When you finish knitting the stitches, how do you keep going? I mean, they have to stack up somewhere. (Does a gesture with his hands to indicate knitting.)
Me: You mean, how do we start a new row?
Him: Yeah! How do you do that?
Me: (saying this in a really slow manner while knitting) You keep on knitting till the end of the row, and then you turn it around and start again.
Him: Oh.

It was a funny conversation for me as a knitter.
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Men's Knit Hoodie on: July 11, 2007 03:58:19 PM
There's one in the book, Knitting With Balls. It may take a while though since it uses sportweight yarn, I think.

In Last Minute Knitted Gifts, there's the bulky zippered raglan. I don't think it's a hoodie but it's pretty easy to add it on.

Awesome tshirt! That's my favorite NMH song along with In An Aeroplane Over The Sea.

That looks so good. I really want to make this sweater but I have so many other things to do!
