12  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / bad day for knitting? on: October 19, 2010 09:38:11 PM
so this morning i sat down to finally finish a baby blanket i had been working on, then realized i had sewn 3 squares onto the wrong edge of the blanket...so then had to tediously unsew them, and then stopped and cleaned the microwave in frustration.

later i was eyeballing some remnents from a baby hat i had just finished and had JUST ENOUGH left over to make some ears. after sewing on one ear, i went to make the other, only to notice the last of that yarn, that was just enough for one more little ear, was now in the jaws of my boyfriend's stupid little black dog, and completely destroyed.

and finally, i decided i could use a new poncho. but i've frogged it 3 times in the past hour and just can't make myself content with it.

should i just take all these mishaps as a sign that today just isn't a good day for me to knit?

has anyone else had days where ALL your knitting just turns into fail one way or another?
13  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / birthday cat! on: September 18, 2010 03:43:50 AM
well it's my baby's first birthday, so i had to make him a new hat  Cheesy

sorry for the blurry phone pics, if there's anything he hates more than hats, it's having his picture taken in them!

after calming down a bit he came and sat by me on the couch, and agreed to pose nicely!

i think it's not so much the hats he has a problem with, but the tying under his chin part. i just make a chain and tie as loosely as possible to stay on and still be comfortable, so i think i just need to come up with a new securing to the head method.

this was originally supposed to be a crochet project but as soon as i got through the whole red skein with only 6 inches of progress it occurred to me that this would both faster and less yarn consuming if i knit instead. still went ahead and crocheted a border, which solved the problem of those pesky curled stockinette edges without any ironing/blocking!
