642  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / seed stitch hat (pattern included) on: February 19, 2007 10:03:49 PM
about a year or so ago, hobby lobby had all sugar n cream yarns on sale for 99 cents, so i got a few skeins of my favorite, emerald. i used the first skein and half on a simple garter stitch scarf, and a few months later decided i wanted a hat as well. i adore seed stitch and girly-looking beanies, and so i made up my own easy pattern, using #7 needles and only 2 rows of decreasing! (my past self patterned hat experiences were usually ruined due to either too little or too much decreasing, so i was amazed that i did something right for once!)

643  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / lamb balls on: February 19, 2007 08:08:11 PM
...it just dawned on me how funny that subject title really is.

my mom has recently gotten my fiance and i into havarti cheese...(which makes awesome grilled cheese and tomato soup, his favorite) i am quite fond of it served on pita chips, but my brain just hatched the idea of melting some on rice, and also mix some in ground lamb meat to make lamb balls, and possibly pour some sort of sauce over the dish.

questions une: is lamb expensive? (i assume it to be higher than ground beef, but just how much higher are we talking?)
and question deux: what sort of sauce (if any) do you think would go best with this? i'm leaning toward some garlic sauce, but suggestions welcome!
644  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / circulars give out towards the end of project! on: February 07, 2007 01:24:09 PM
gee whiz!
so here's the deal. a year ago, i got this idea to make a blanket which was pink and black and contained intarsia of a playboy bunny and my name (robin marie) written vertically on each side of the bunny (i mean robin on one side and marie on the other). several months later (which was 2 months ago) i finally get the balls to get started on it. i am about 20 more rows from being done and the needle just pops right off the plastic! i was able to pick up all the work (tediously) on straights, and the only noticeable damage is pretty small and on the wrong side, which is being covered with fabric anyway. i've had an odd feeling that this would happen eventually, they are a cheap off brand set i bought at hancock on sale (damn their high prices for good quality stuff) and with my employee discount at the time.

anyway....has this happened to any of you before?

and i'll be sure to post pics of the blanket when it's done.
