11  birthday cat! in Crochet: Completed Projects by lady_cyanide on: September 18, 2010 03:43:50 AM
well it's my baby's first birthday, so i had to make him a new hat  Cheesy

sorry for the blurry phone pics, if there's anything he hates more than hats, it's having his picture taken in them!

after calming down a bit he came and sat by me on the couch, and agreed to pose nicely!

i think it's not so much the hats he has a problem with, but the tying under his chin part. i just make a chain and tie as loosely as possible to stay on and still be comfortable, so i think i just need to come up with a new securing to the head method.

12  rasta throw blanket in Knitting: Completed Projects by lady_cyanide on: September 17, 2010 04:01:10 AM
this was originally supposed to be a crochet project but as soon as i got through the whole red skein with only 6 inches of progress it occurred to me that this would both faster and less yarn consuming if i knit instead. still went ahead and crocheted a border, which solved the problem of those pesky curled stockinette edges without any ironing/blocking!

14  special b. in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by lady_cyanide on: April 15, 2010 07:51:45 PM
i've been meaning to make this bee i found a pattern for on the back of a yarn label. well today i finally got around to it. his head came out a little lopsided because i'm still noobish to the crochet world and have yet to make something in the round that comes out symmetrical. (i'm sure a damn stitch marker and paying closer attention the numbers when i count would fix this problem.  Cheesy). this was a gift for the boyfriend, who as of lately just LOVES putting mismatched googly eyes on things. so by my lack of attention to numbers, and the boy's new eye game, our little bee came out looking...well....special.

here he is, special b!

15  my first coffee filter flower attempt. in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by lady_cyanide on: March 28, 2010 07:26:17 PM
so this didn't turn out anywhere like i thought it was going to, but i still kinda like it Cheesy

i didn't have all the materials needed to make these, but i was able to improvise, such as using pipecleaners in place of wire, scotch tape instead of floral tape. i was just thrilled to have the cone shaped coffee filters! the edges are done in sharpie, the idea coming from a vague childhood memory of marker ink bleeding out on coffee filters thus making a really cool effect. but once i get around to gathering the right materials, i will be attempting more realistic looking roses to make hair clips Cheesy

17  love penguins. [pic heavy] in Knitting: Completed Projects by lady_cyanide on: March 26, 2010 10:11:48 PM
i often call my boyfriend the love penguin. after staring at the pasha the penguin pattern on knitty for awhile, inspiration struck to make these penguin representations of us! sorry for the shitty phone pics.

the hearts are some felt i recently aquired and had no clue what to do with. poked some holes in them with a beading crochet hook for cute stich placement

the boy has a mohawk, so i just HAD to make his penguin as such  Wink

this was upon his request....a hand like shake's instead of a wing. i love those brains of his  Cheesy

i've been working on this damn blanket for the boyfriend since november, and finally finished it a night or two ago. it was supposed to be his xmas gift. better late than never, and he LOVES it. some of the squares are crocheted, but it's mostly knitted on size 10's.

20  wrist pillow in Knitting: Completed Projects by lady_cyanide on: February 18, 2010 11:23:13 PM
the boyfriend pitched the idea of some sort of cushion for his wrist to rest upon when he's at his computer. good idea boy, i'll happily whip up something fast and easy to give me a break from the monotony of the blanket i'm currently crocheting for you  Wink
