hi. ok for school we had to make an educational toy for out design and technology class. Basically was had to research, plan, design and create an educational toy for children og the ages 4 to 5.
The outside the inside
The point of the game is to push the child to learn with his or her sense of touch to learn things. I put in a variety of objects and textures. There are only eight slots, but i have about 12 diffeent objects because the objects are on trays and can be moved around of our of the box. Meaning you can make a new challaenge each time. the objects and textures i included were:
smooth rocks plastic bag
cotton wool styrofoam
On the outside of the box is a black cloth that is hung in place with a wefght on the bottom. It has a elcro strip below each flap for the child to place the name of the object within. On the bottom of each tray is the correct name of the object so the child can check.http://farm1.static.flickr.com/81/371671683_9ef3fdb098_o.jpg
This is how it would be set up for the child with the possible names infron of the boxThis is an example of someone playing with the toy
She puts her hand in to touch the object of texture withinhttp://farm1.static.flickr.com/180/371667759_8d7211b68b_o.jpg
She then looks down at the words placed before her and attaches whatever word she thinks it ishttp://farm1.static.flickr.com/163/371668812_a56c374907_o.jpg
To check if she's right we then open the flap and take a look ooh it looks right! however, if we cant tell, if you look on the underside of the tray, there will be the name of the object or texture.http://farm1.static.flickr.com/188/371667758_b262c5bc7a_o.jpg
