Take a flower tortilla. Smear creamy peanut butter all over it. Sprinkle hot cocoa powder (or chocolate milk powder) on top. Roll it up.

I call them "PMS Taquitos" and I am simply addicted to them but no one has ever taken me up on the offer of making one for them. They're delicious!

Thanks for all of the concern and I apologize for the late reply; yes, I am doing quite well, actually. Seriously. It was a good thing.

Smiley

I'm still feverishly knitting!

I am relieved the date was pushed back; I just spent a week in the hospital and spent more time than I should have thinking about this swap! I am pleasantly pleased.
4  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: The Doctor Who Knitalong! on: January 06, 2007 12:42:27 PM
I am just now fully recovered from the holidays; I don't think I can have it done by the 15th.

Then, I had the brilliant idea of signing up for really cool swaps! Grrr... I need to prioritize my knitting.

At least I get to spend my Christmas gift cards on yarn! Yipee!
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Knitting with Wire on: January 06, 2007 12:31:49 PM
I am knitting something for a swap (therefore, can't say what) our of wire. I've wanted to try it for a while, and so far, it's going along quicker than I thought it would.

Does anyone have any tips on making it go a little bit smoother? I can do it for a row or two (I hate stopping anything mid-row) and then I need to rest my hands.

TIA!

I always thought "turning" your work was short row shaping-- knit 9 stitches, pretend you have finished the row and being knitting the stitches on the other needle.

Therefore, I agree with Zaftig, whose post I only skimmed before I typed all of that.

So many ideas, such little time!
8  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Vintage Craft Projects / Re: "A treasury of macrame owls". (link) on: January 06, 2007 12:06:03 PM
I was just thinking that, right under a macrame owl in a kitchen, on a counter, would be one of those ceramic canister sets that have like orange mushrooms on them. Like these:

My husband and I own some of the Merry Mushroom stuff, and he wants the whole set. Like, he wants our entire kitchen to be Merry Mushrooms.

For the purposes of clarification, we are both in our early twenties.

I love this sort of thing.

Me too. My husband and I named our cat Dante, after the author of the Divine Comedy. This swap was just too perfect (and I get a good sound board from the cat and the husband!).
10  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Down to the wire on: January 05, 2007 10:45:38 PM
I was going to knit all of the gifts-- about 32 of them. I made this decision mid-October and began kniting almost immediately. Then, after much frustration, overtime at work, and realizing that I don't really like so-and-so enough to knit them something, I broke down and bought about half of the gifts. My sister and her entire family (her, her husband, four kids) all got garter stitch scarves (per their request, even), so that made it easy.

The best part was my shoulder starting freezing up. I could knit for about twenty minutes at a time and then needed a ten minute break because it hurt SO BADLY. I talked to my doctor who asked if I had any repetitive hobbies (I had just knit six garter stitch scarves, mind you). So I didn't knit for a week-- longest week of my life, but well earned.

Either I start my Christmas knitting for this upcoming Christmas NOW or I never, ever do this again!
