I love it! It's so cute. I've never had figgy pudding, but if it looks that good I'd totally eat it. Cheesy

23  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Discussion and Questions / Where do I start? / Beginner skirt tutorial? on: May 16, 2011 01:52:30 PM
I'm a very novice sewer, most of what I do is experimental. I'd like to start making clothes, but I have no idea where to start. Should I purchase some plus size patterns? If so, any recommendations? Or should I try and come up with something on my own? I bought some nice fabric at Goodwill that I want to use for a skirt, that way if it gets messed up, at least I didn't spend a whole lot. Any suggestions on a simple skirt tutorial / pattern? I've never used a sewing pattern before so the simpler the better.

Also, what types of clothing would be easiest to start with? I figured simple skirts and shirts and then try more advanced styles until I know what I'm doing.

Thanks!

That's lovely, and a nice way to remember your dad. The fabric you used is gorgeous!

That's neat, I'm sure the owner would love it! I would move the text up if it were me, it seems kind of awkward down there. Either way, it's still really cook looking.

30  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / To scrap, or not to scrap? Help me decide! on: March 12, 2011 01:20:44 AM
I started this afghan for my hubby-to-be, and as I was working on it, I was oblivious to the fact that the squares are HUGE. I thought they were looking a little off but figured it would come together in the end. Well, I'm 18 out of 30 squares in, and... I hate it. I absolutely hate it. I'll pick it up and do a few stitches, and have to put it down because it angers me. Sad I've done so much on it, I don't want to start over... but I don't think I'll ever finish. To motivate me to finish, I put together a row... and still hated it. If I do scrap it, I think I'm going to use the same yarn and just make a stripe or ripple afghan.

This is the pattern, for the curious. If you want to make it, for the love of all that is delicious in the world, read the comments like I did not do. Use a smaller hook. Or bulkier yarn.

Thanks for any help or advice!
