Wanted to share the Rock People project with you all in case you wanta try one.
I bought the rocks at walmart as well as the glue I had a whole shoe box full of different kinds of glue before I ended up using this one called future glue for the arms as it glued them instantly together and I would make the arms first and set them aside. To make the bodies I stated with the feet and worked my way up using 1 minute apoxie glue. Once I chose the rock I wanted to use I would mix and then set and hold the rock inplace untill apoxie was set and went on the next and so forth.  I gave them as Christmas gifts but all of them ended up with a broken arm so maybe should have used apoxie for all. The thing is you need a fast dry glue that will let you create and will glue rocks together. There maybe a better glue out there but I never found it. I used little googley eyes from walmart. They really are cute in person here some photos.
I also made Dominoe People with the apoxie but sorry I do not have photo of them
I used googley eyes on them as well.

Here is a mary janes crochet so cute I have done this with an E size hook will be about 5 and one half inches and then  a B hook about 4 inches and smaller hook even smaller.
and I was using baby yarn as well. So Im thinking too maybe use like a I hook and see if your getting the adult size you want or H hook and reg yarn. I have not tryed to make adults but they are way cute when done. Here is the link to pattern:
