So nice of you to toot your mom's horn!  I'm proud of both of you.
2  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 17 ENTRIES / Paris Time Perfume Clock on: February 27, 2007 10:51:42 AM
I made this clock out of a French beret as a participant in last October's Art and Soul Retreat in Portland OR.  The theme was Paris In My Soul.  I stuffed the beret with batting and sewed my Mother's vintage French mini perfume bottles to accentuate the numbers.  The clockface was printed, in reverse, on the computer, then transferred to sheer, lacy fabric which was supported by a thin, round piece of cardboard. Eiffel Towers were also computer printed, then cut out and attached over the original hands of the battery operated clock.  I used vintage hat netting for the bow and propped the finished product on a 10" silver painted wooden easel.  Viola!

Imaginative, inventive, an ideal improvement and very inspirational.  Be Proud!

Ms. Safety Dog, here.  Love your cool idea and the possibilities...  HOWEVER if you can smell any odors while crating with synthetics, then particles are being released into the air and you're breathing them.  I use a respirator whenever I craft around with melting stuff: synthetic fabrics, embossing powders and plastics. Please protect yourself from any harmful effects.

I saw a photo of the pop-holder hammock in a book called something like "1001 Things To Do With Pantyhose".  Dyed  pantyhose was used to weave through the loops of layered plastic.

I like this, too.  I have a lot of polymer clay supplies that I haven't tried yet.  It would meld very nicely with my sewing or cardmaking  skills.  Thanks for your creative thinking!
7  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Re: i need some MAJOR help ASAP!! on: November 13, 2006 06:18:18 PM
Depending on where you live and if you can afford to crank up the heat while your guests are gathered, you might consider having a winter, indoor beach party. They can bring lawn chairs or towels and show up in their summer shorts, bathing suits and flip flops.  Add some funky surfing music, some sand and beach umbrella's serve iced drinks and you're set.
8  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: Headless Andy on: November 13, 2006 06:02:37 PM
I followed through and showed my grandson and he said, "I want to be an Andy"!
9  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Re: Gifts for 1yr old? on: November 12, 2006 09:22:26 AM
Bibs can be made out of practically anything: fabric, plastic, towels and even paper. They can be painted, embroidered, cross-stitched, quilted, stamped, etc.  They can be easy and  plain, or fancy and personalized.  No matter what you bib, it will be cute and appreciated.
10  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Re: 89 year old grandmother on: November 12, 2006 09:09:13 AM
You could make 89 pieces of her favorite homemade candy/cookie.

Bag and tag 89 Birthday candles for her to light throughout the year whenever she needs to make a wish.

Write down 89 reasons why she is loved or 89 words that describe her.  Make a frame for it and if possible, read it aloud to her.  When I made this for my mom, I used a computer to scan, enlarged and lightened a photo of her (maybe one of the two of you?)  as a background. Then I placed the words on top so they were darker and easy to read. You could also write your words on vellum and place them over the photo.
