Aww, Baranof looks dashing in that tie Smiley

We took a couple days off and went up to Peril Strait to do some shrimping. We caught a few shrimp-

and one pot had a lot of half eaten shrimp and an octopus. We sorted him out into the bucket briefly for a few photos before setting him loose  Smiley

Then Nessie got to see one of Baranof's wild relatives. The ABC Brown Bear. We actually saw a ton of them, every time we pulled into a bay we scared off 2 or 3 bears. But it's really hard to get a photo that shows the bear well enough to tell what it is, AND see Nessie in the photo as well. So this was the best I could do. We saw a sow and three cubs while hiking. I wish I could have gotten a photo of Nessie and them, the cubs were so cute! But we got the heck out of there as soon as we saw them.

Beautiful! We rarely see those huge picture-perfect rainbows here.
Usually it's half rainbows.. but Nessie did get to see one

Here's our nature post. Nessie with one of my two all time favorite plants :-) Sundew! (Drosera rotundifolia) It's a little carnivorous plant that grows all over the boggy areas in Alaska.

Captain America! Awesome  Cheesy

So we headed out of town last night to anchor up and start fishing early today. Really early.. It's 3am so if I misspell anything forgive me.
I took a few photos on our way through..

The view of the Pioneer Home in downtown Sitka as we passed by.

Looking back at O'Connel bridge. When it was built in the 70's it was the first of its type built in the US. It connects Sitka to the airport  Smiley

I had some nice purchases this week... Baranof inspected them and liked them, I think. Wink

After months of playing Lego Harry Potter (years 1-4 only) I decided the girls are ready to get introduced to the Books. And that was of course the ONLY reason for me to buy the illustrated edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. Fantastic Beasts & Quidditch through the Years was on offer (2 for 7), and Beedle the Bard was just on the same shelf.. And the fact that I pre-ordered "The Cursed Child" has nothing to do with the fact that I'm a Potterhead... ummm... Wink

Awesome! I can't wait until kiddo is old enough for Harry Potter :-)

We have been recovering from a very long day of flying, delayed flights, and rough landings. But Nessie is now in Sitka Alaska! We head out fishing tonight so I'll post pics when we get back in in a few days.

Until then, considering all the Disney photos in the gallery I thought it was amusing which plane we flew to Alaska on -

Nessie with wild ginger, one of my favorite local plants (it's the one with heart shaped leaves)

and of course a spring Trillium

Took Nessie to the park today, and my son promptly knocked my camera out of my hands and the lens broke when it hit the ground.  Undecided
So here are a couple quick cell phone shots  Tongue I'll post better ones soon.

Nessie with the Washington State Flower -

and looking across Hood Canal at the Olympic Mountains. Not the best view of them, she will see better I promise

First of all.....
This is a LONG swap. This cannot be your first Craftster swap; no exceptions. Please understand that we don't want anyone to go MIA, and it is expected that all participants check into the thread regularly and post pictures throughout the duration of the swap. (We will help out by periodically posting questions and/or photo challenges to keep the thread moving if needed!)
We reserve the right to refuse anyone. If you have swap feedback that shows a history of incomplete swaps, late sending, ill-communication, lack of tracking #'s, etc., we may refuse you. We want this to be a flake-free swap!
*Participants who have sent more than two weeks late in previous little visitor swaps may not join this round.

Details of swap:

You will send a Little Visitor (LV) to your partner by April 19th.  You can send an optional biography (likes/dislikes/personality traits) if you would like to.

Here is a sample BIO from the one of the previous rounds:

You should work on finding/crafting/choosing your LV and writing his/her/its bio as soon as you are approved for the swap, since the send-outs are less than a week after partners are matched up.

Post a photo of your LV in the thread.

Once you are accepted into the swap you must post in either this thread or the gallery regularly until the end of the swap. If you are going to be away please let the organizers AND your partner know. Spotty communication in the threads will be reflected in your feedback comments.

Once you receive your LV, show them around! You should visit at least 10 different areas/parts of town/activities so that they can get the real experience of your community. Of course, the more places they visit, the better! And be sure to take lots of pictures to send home with your new friend!

You will be required to send at least 15 printed pictures in a scrapbook/journal type thing. We know not everyone is a scrapper/paper crafter but please do you best to send something you are proud of. We highly recommend sending any additional pics on a CD or even a link to your Flickr/Photobucket gallery of your Little Visitor. Many people like to create a blog for their little visitor!

You are also required to send 3 souvenirs/ mementos from the LVs trip. The souvenirs can be crafted, bought, or both. Try to send souvenirs that are unique to your area! In previous rounds, craftsters have made their little visitors outfits or accessories, so you may do that too if you like. Discuss how much you'd like to send with your partner.

Send your LV home by September 20th 2016. It is a long time for the swap to go on, but we want to give the LVs as many excursions as possible!

IF YOU ARE MAILING WITHIN YOUR OWN COUNTRY, YOU MUST GET A TRACKING NUMBER when you send your own LV and when you send your partner's LV back home! If youre mailing internationally, you MUST KEEP YOUR RECEIPT (or other proof of mailing that is approved by me before sending)! And we require a picture or scan of the postal receipts so we can verify the date that you spammed, and that you did in fact mail your LV to your partner.

Here are some links to recent galleries:

Round 20:

Round 19:

To Reiterate:
* Post a photo of your LV in the thread
* Send your LV to your partner by April 19th 2016
* Provide proof of mailing to your partner and the organizer
* Take your LV around town and show them the sights! Make sure they have fun, and stay safe!
* Post photos of your adventures in the gallery
* Make the scrapbook/journal and make or buy some souvenirs for the LV to remember its trip by.
* Mail the LV, the scrapbook/journal, and the souvenirs back to your partner by September 20th 2016
* Contact organizers when you send/receive - you MUST supply Tracking# or receipt EVERY time you post something.

Once you are matched up with your partner, please stay in contact with them! If you haven't heard from your partner in a while, please let us (organizers) know right away. I hope we don't have any flakers, but if we do, it's better if we catch them quickly.

THIS IS A COMPLICATED SWAP AND ITS LONGER THAN MOST. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE read everything before you sign up, and make sure you can commit to everything.

- Small is better than large. Not only do you have to ship it, your partner has to ship it back! Also, small LVs tend to be easier to haul around town than large ones. ALL LV's must be UNDER 8 inches tall by 6 inches wide. We have had issues with LVs being too large to bring in a purse etc.
- Please make sure your LV is durable enough to survive when traveling around in someone's bag, pocket, etc.  We don't want any injuries!
- swaps arent perfect, and neither is the mail system. Please dont send something youd be heartbroken to lose. There have also been flakers in previous rounds.
- Your partner might have allergies, so its best not to send something your cat eats to cuddle up with or thats been sitting on a shelf next to your incense collection!
- LV doesnt have to be a stuffed animal, feel free to send some sort of a doll/plastic toy/stuffed animal/poppet instead!

If you want to participate, PM me your info (see below) AND post here on the thread. That way Ill know that youll get notification of anything I post here.

Please put LV SWAP ROUND 23- Approval as the subject!!! Send your completed questionnaire to the organizer (Wildfyre). Failure to do so may delay your entry into the swap.

*Please note* If you would like to sign up with a partner, both people must submit a questionnaire. You WILL NOT be guaranteed a spot until both questionnaires have been received.

Baranof is home!

His scrapbook is so organized it even has a table of contents! And I love that the souvenirs are clipped to the appropriate pages Smiley

Thank you so much LadybugsAndBumblebees! I LOVE the shells too. I have a serious seashell addiction lol
The yellow and orange ones are amazing! They almost don't look real.
Thank you for taking such good care of Baranof Smiley
