Eeeek!
So excited to give this to him. He loves Firefly, and every year for Christmas I make him a hat, so...
Taaadaaaa!
(I'm modeling the hat, in housecoat and on the phone with my mum, but I will post a pic of him in it come gift-swapping!)

I couldn't find a pattern on the net that I was particularily fond of, so I made my own (Aaron also has a really big head for such a skinny little guy). I used Paton's Classic wool in Old Gold, Paprika, and Bright Red (which I should would be too bright, but I'm acutally really happy with it!)
Yay!

Next time I will make the ochre section bigger, the paprika smaller, and the pompom have more red in it.
it only took me a few hours - maybe 6? One day, anyways, so I may do up another of the same style in different colours for my little brother for Christmas!

A Christmas gift for my brother's girlfriend:
She knits and she digs fairies and the colour purple. I thought that this was fitting!
It's a canvas craft bag from Michael, and I dyed it purple. It's the first thing I've ever embroidered, and the second thing I've ever dyed, so I'm pretty happy with this rather ambitious (for me!) project.
Things I would change? Even after an hour of stewing in the pot of purple dye, me supervising and lovingly poking at the fabric, the bag's seam came out splotchy. And the fairy looks to be rather rude: flashing the other fairies! There was to be another little fairy perched on the petal below her, but after she came out so ...erm.... daring... I decided to cancel the second fairy.

Lady Bing Cherry is a husky/shepard mix, and although she is well equipped to face Ontario winters, she tends to hold a lot of moisture in her heavy undercoat after an outing in the snow, not to mention I have to pick about 10 pounds of snow balls off of her belly and legs.
Since she has never before worn a sweater, I was reluctant to sink hours into hand-knitting her one, and so decided to make good use out of an old wool people-sweater.
I felted the sweater in the machine and re-fit it for doggy proportions. The neckhole and armholes are the same, its just wider in the chest and shorter underneath to accomodate her back legs. There are real mother of pearl buttons to close up the sides, and the sweater itself is 100% Italian Merino wool! Classy Doggy!
The fit isn't bad, though it's baggy around the shoulders. I think I will take them in a bit, but she seems to like it quite a bit. Clean up after an hour long romp in a foot of snow was minimal. It really did help!
