211  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Simplicity 4072 on: January 22, 2007 12:38:08 PM

I made the dress in a size 14 and it fit me fine.  the ties can make it even smaller if needed.  i only needed it to be pulled in a little at the waist and it fit perfect.  it needs to be a little bigger because the only way to get it on is to pull it over your head so you need to be able to get your arms in and everything.  id say go with your normal size.

oh thank you so much for that, I must get started now!!  it makes sense being a pullover now that you say that.

i just bought this pattern and cut out my pieces but how much bigger is this going to be? i dont want to be drowning in it.  I cut out size 14 (my normal pattern size) out of this silky polyester (which i am really afraid to sew).

I have the same question, My measurements were exact to the size 14, but after reading this thread im a little afraid to start cutting out my pattern pieces.

Oooh, that dress look really nice. And just as cmfy as you say. Would you mind if I copied it for me. `Cause I really want one too... Grin

oh please help yourself, its such a basic dress anyone could make it.  I think I used a cotton/poly, its like a thicker stretchy tshirt material.  it is so comfortable after I tried it on last night I just lounged around the house in it  Smiley

That's gorgeous! Did you use a pattern or just freestyle it?

aww thanks for all the awesome comments. I just cut out 2 big rectangles, well it just happened to be exactly how much fabric I had left and then pinned it to fit, I need to fix up the bottom, its still a little snug down there around my booty. then added the pink band on the top and straps and voila! I especially love how well it covers the bra straps.

Hello...well I am a super newbie...this is my first post..I like to look around a lot...I am a pretty good knitter who is venturing into sewing...I had that mentality that sewing would be so much easier bc you can just cut it..boy was I wrong.

My husband had to work today so I was bored and used up some scraps from a previous project to make this...Obviously it is a super easy to make dress...but I am still a beginner sewer.

I am so amazed at all the awesome stuff that is made on here..I was jealous and wanted to show off something of mine :0) This dress is super comfortable, It can be a cute beach cover up or get dressed up with belt.  I love anything I can wear flip flops with...and it covers those bras straps perfectly...although I know that back shots not very flattering :0)..Hope you enjoy looking..

I got an awesome dress pattern and fabric for xmas..so hopefully I can start working on that next.. until then here are a couple pictures...

whoops Im so new I cant post pictures... so here are the links
try this..
