1  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: no clue if this is crochet or knit. on: November 13, 2008 05:21:26 PM
Its done in Jacobs wool which is a kind of sheep breed. So you could use any really chunky wool you like to get that effect maybe even 2 strands together.
2  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: What stitch do you think this is? on: November 13, 2008 05:05:10 PM
If you look at the 3 rows above the brim they are done in sc and the she's used  a spike stitch straight down after that it looks like crossed trebles.

Great to see another Aussie crocheter on here, you do some great stuff Cat. I have been fighting an uphill battle with people who think crochet is done by grannies who can't knit.I belong to a number of online groups but there are 2 Aussie groups I am happy to recommend on is Oz crochet on MSN and the other is called  Knit4charities on yahoo. I am in Toowoomba Qld and there are a few crocheters in the district who are also on Crochetville and CrochetPartners as well. I am a member of Ravelry also and we have a huge community of crocheters and designers on there are you a member?

8  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Re: need to know ANYWHERE i can get ginned cotton online on: June 22, 2008 08:55:55 PM
I know what you mean Australia is like Texas climate wise I think. We have a lot of spinners mostly wool spinners but only a few places are cold enough to have to wear wool more than a couple of months in a year. I live in Queensland in a place where its considered cold in winter in the mountains.

If you still want to spin it greasy you leave the fleece to warm in the sun or near a heater to soften the lanolin.
