12  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Dog food bag into doggie bag?? on: June 27, 2008 08:47:19 PM
Hello..
I feel bad cuz I put this in the wrong forum, but there's being questions asked so I'll go ahead and explain.
1. This dog food bag was made with this weird plastic woven material, kinda looks and feels like those big blue tarps. (I hope its water proof)
(I should of washed it, but didn't , it still smells of dog food..)   But I cut two squares the same size (this will be your front and back) Also one more
square the same width, but not as long (say mins 3 inches) this will be your top flap.  Now you need to cut the two sides of the bag and bottom, I did around 4 inches wide, this runs down the side, makes the bottom and up the other side (I cut these each as sections, meaning left side, then sewed the bottom, and then sewed the right side, so it looked like one long strip 4 inches wide. I did it this way so it would bend at each corner).  (at this point I cut out all the same things with a white cotton I had laying around, this became my liner). Sewed up my liner (leaving attaching the flap till last) then sewed up the body if bag and attached the flap to back, dropped in the liner, and because the flap was same size as the front and back of bag, but now cuz of the seams was wider then the bag, folded top flap over 1 inch around liner to clean it up a bit.  I then cut small strips of the dog bag and made kind of (like binding) and ran that around top inside of bag to hold lining in (this runs top left side of bag, around to front, around to right side) I then took all left over and sewed together to make strap. and sewed that on the inside of left side of bag (down 2 inches or so) and attached the other side to the right side of bag, down 2 inches or so)..
This sounds harder then it was, I'm kinda A.D.D. I hope this doesn't jump around to much.  The only pain working with this is you really can't pin it..  Other then that treat it the same way,.  (also don't sew close to the edge, and don't trim your seams way down, )

I say try it out, whats the worse your going to do? mess up on some food bag you were just going to toss anyways!!

such a cool idea and an incredibly unique bag to end up with Cheesy  i was wondering what on earth this was when i clicked on a pic of a bag of dog food!

(btw shouldn't this really be in the bags etc forum?)

oppps, I didn't even see that there was a bag forum,  I've just posted it there, and tryed to delete this post but, it wouldn't let me..  How do I delete this from forum?

15  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Barbies all about the glitter dot, right? Now with action shot! on: June 26, 2008 04:10:59 PM
So I went out to a Gothic/industrial club for there anti-goth party... Smiley
Fun right!!  But everything I have is kinda goth/industrial..  expt this great big pink skirt I got a goodwill for $3 a while back..
So I needed to come up with a idea to use that.  So I decided to go as Barbie... how anti-goth is that! I even had a Blondie long wig..
I made this fashion corset in about a day., (mind you I woke up in CT, and started it at a friends house, drove home to Mass, finished it and went to the club)..
I thought it looked kinda Barbie... I mean... Barbie is all about the Glitter Dot fabrics right??

ok,
My friend just sent me a photo taken from the club, and yes this is the only photo I have of that night.  I had to cut my friend out of the photo due to the fact that she would kill me..  but here you have it:

Simplicity pattern # 5006 was used, but changes had to be made, I'm 100 lbs, and a A cup..  (also its not the best finishing job, I was in a rush to get to the club)
Smiley
so do you thing Barbie would have worn it?
