1  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: My first Plush on: June 30, 2008 02:10:51 PM
I like the simplicity and the quality of the sewing on him. Very very cute button eyes as well.

having a copyright violated not so long ago, there's nothing more insulting to me than to be accused of plagiarism, although I understand Biggreenfeet for believing i've copied coop, since she probably thought he was the one who was the first to design a greaser, cigar smoking devil. Although a little more research of rockabilly culture and old school tattoo designs wouldn't have hurted hurt her.

Your original post stated that you had NO reference, when in fact you had a lot of reference- rockabilly "culture." That was my entire point. You can draw what you want free-handed, but the originality of the idea is rather ruined. I in no way knocked or put down what you specifically DID to your guitar. I didn't put down the paint job, or the rendering quality, I was simply making a point that it has been done before, and something this wide-spread in popular culture isn't truly original. It wasn't hostility, it was a knee-jerk reaction. I suppose one of my pet peeves is this constant regurgitating of pop-culture themes that people seem to think are original ideas, when, by this point EVERYONE has seen them. Examples: Skulls and crossbones, devil heads (cigars or no), nautical stars, swallows, hearts, stars, roses, boat anchors, and/ or any other form of "old school" tattoo flash. That doesn't mean we can't all find original ways to use these symbols (like painting them on our instruments), I just certainly wouldn't take complete credit for an image that saturates a pop-culture market just because I happened to try my hand at drawing it in my own style.

3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / the monster pouch on: June 28, 2008 07:44:19 PM
I actually made this thing a few months ago, but I finally got around to posting it today. It was just a silly little something for my boyfriend out of some ridiculous blue faux-fur I have had in my stash since high school. The pouch itself was finished, but waiting on inspiration for what else was going to go on the outside, so one night I just added buttons and rickrack, and monster pouch was born.

And for a better idea of the size, here he is skulking around the boyfriend's typewriter:

Really? No reference? Looks like Coop stuff to me.

5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Urban Outfitters: Urban Renewal on: June 23, 2008 11:05:31 AM
I don't personally like urban outfitters- no "extended sizes" and just about everything there is OVERPRICED. They also steal from people like us here on craftster. I used to have a link for a site called "urban counterfeiters" but they didn't update regularly. You can probably google it though. I will say it is a good site to get ideas from, just wouldn't recommend buying anything there.

This is very colorful and fun. I just found this site this morning, and your bracelet fits this month's theme:

You know, I don't normally comment on a whole lot, but I really like this. Very earthy. And the whale is very cute Smiley
