1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / two new large bags! (flowers!) on: August 02, 2009 11:26:49 AM
I got the bag making bug back (almost alliteration!) about a month ago, and finally had some time to sit down and figure out what was wrong with my machine tension, and churned out two bags in the past couple days.

They both were almost entirely stolen from bags I've seen while shopping and wanted to buy but really? I could make the same thing, so I just did that!

This took a yard of the blue and a 1/2 yard of the lining. It has a little inside pocket that is conveniently (not purposely at all) sized for my cell phone.

Shot of the lining/button closure:

and then the other one is smaller and meant for more like every day (the previous one was sewn with the beach in mind, or like a trip or something):

It's really just a square with some raised sides so it could fold over the rope nicely.

and it kind of matches my wallet a bit!

thanks for looking!
2  UNITED STATES / Connecticut / UHart craftsters? on: August 26, 2008 12:40:53 PM
I'm going to Uhart in about three days, and I'm gonna be a freshman, is there anyone else around that crafts? (I asked about knitters on ravelry, but no luck!)

I sew, knit, embroider a little, etc. I'd love to meet/hang out with someone (s) that do the same!
3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / You're My little Cupcake... Purse on: August 24, 2008 12:32:06 PM
i found these little things that had some really cute cupcake ribbon packaged along with a little felt cupcake! They were really cheap so I bought a few and made this purse!

The handle is an old belt my mom gave me!

4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Mumu Revisited - Self designed dress on: August 18, 2008 05:33:31 PM
It started as a straight dress, with no darts, with just a sash... then I had the idea to add darts and some binding to the neckline and armholes.

I love it. It's a little short, but I can wear leggings!

I have plans for another with a sew-in sash and a color block at the bottom.

5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Blue Linen Graduation Dress on: June 16, 2008 02:57:52 PM

It's a teeny bit too big, but only like the inch.

I used a new look pattern, 6723. here:http://simplicity.com/index.cfm?page=thumbnail.cfm&cat=6&type=0&sec=66&browTypeId=&StartRow=19
I used a blue linen blend for the outside and the green is also a lining that's cotton.

And yes, I've gotten good at taking pictures in my bathroom.

6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / does it REALLY matter if you don't prewash? on: June 05, 2008 05:28:21 PM
I haven't made very many "regular" clothes. i've made two prom dresses and a skirt that has been since repurposed.

So today I decide that despite my graduation being a little over a week away, I want to make myself a dress. mostly because that way I can control what fabric because i KNOW it'll be hot in the gym... (I choose a linen blend).

I got home and wanted to start cutting and sewing asap, but my mom reminded me to pre-wash the fabric - and the cotton lining.

So in your experience, how much does it REALLY matter? esp. with linen and cotton? did i just waste my washing?

(by the way, i washed them in the washing machine because I plan on washing the dress in the washer machine)

8  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Elijah/Ella on: December 01, 2007 08:14:50 AM
I just used ysolda's pattern (<a href="http://ysolda.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=7">here</a>) to make this :

I used size 0 dpns, with left over Lorna's Laces Sheperd Sock in "purple club". I think it took about 3/4 of an ounce of the yarn.  she's for one of my best friends for christmas!

10  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / tinker bell??? I don't know.... (possible halloween costume) on: October 22, 2007 01:45:48 PM

Does that look slightly like the tinkerbell dress? Do the blue stripes kill it?
It's a little hem, well, revealing, but hey, if it's tinkerbell, i'm good!
Or even just fairy/nymph like is good too!

(thanks!)
