how nice and uniform is your ball supposed to look after thread wrapping (before stitching on the design)?  i did my yarn wrap and then my thread wrap and my ball is pretty round, but the is just haphazardly wound around...not in any kind of pattern or anything.  is this going to affect the stitching?

those are so cool.  we used to have some xmas ornaments like this (they might still be around) but i never knew it was an ancient japanese art.  anyone want to take a stab at a basic tutorial?  i'd be interested in trying this out.  seems like it could be a really inexpensive project (always good!).

peace.

ok cool, so i started a small, incredibly easy cross-stitching project.  i'm happy to say that it's coming along well.  my verdict is that cross-stitch is easy to learn.  i'm going to try to convert a photo into a pattern b/c it's really difficult to find cool patterns in the stores.  also, i'm going to take a stab at embroidery and see if it's as easy as cross-stitching.  i find that the explanations of the stitches are a little hard to undertand, but maybe once i get my hands on it, it'll be easier.   Grin

thanks!  i did a little search and found a post asking my same question...and it seems you're right.

my mom does a lot of cross-stitching, but it seems like all the patterns are way too...traditional?  i love the stuff on sublime stitching.  i actually ordered a kit off bust's site, but they are on backorder...and i'm impatient, heh.  i'm going to stop by a.c. moore tomorrow and see what i can find.

hopefully my venture into the stitching world won't be a disaster, like my ill-fated crochet adventure.

don't laugh, i'm craft-impaired

what's the difference between embroidery, cross-stich, and needlepoint?
is one easier than the others?  Huh

hehe, thanks!
