22  Mario granny square blanket in Crochet: Completed Projects by fantasticmio on: September 18, 2014 02:33:18 PM
I just finished my first Christmas gift for 2014! Yay!!

My oldest nephew (9 years old) just loves video games, and his mom (my SIL) told me at the last family dinner that he'd really like a Mario blanket.  In an effort to keep my title as the "Cool Aunt", this is what I made:

It's made up of 600 two-round granny squares, and 5 rounds of granny edging.  It used up about 3434 yards of yarn, mostly Caron Simply Soft, but the blue was an unnamed yarn that was similar to the CSS that came in 1lb bags.

I made this blanket adult sized because, well... let's just say, I'm 5'11" and I'm the second-shortest adult in my family.   I'm just hoping this blanket will last him until at least the teen years!

It's another granny square blanket!  Granny squares are great!  I am in no way completely and utterly sick of making them.  Not me!  *eye twitch*

Yet another granny square blanket!

Only one more to finish and then I can stop with the granny squares for a while!

I wasn't even planning on making another one, but this was a special request from my Mom for her cousin's new grandson.  How can I say no to my own mother?

I'm not counting this as a project, but today I re-stocked my bedroom yarn as a reward for cleaning the living room. ^_^

I finished another adult-sized blanket! Yay!

It's my birthday today, and I'm celebrating by not making any granny squares!!!!

ETA: it's bigger than it looks - I was standing on a chair to take this pic!

I finished another blanket! (Of course I did!)

This pattern was originally supposed to be adult sized using worsted weight yarn, but it was smaller than the other adult patterns, so I thought I'd see what size it would be using sport weight (43"x62", as it turns out).  The original plan was to join the pink squares with a rainbow and white striping yarn but it looked terrible, so I ripped it out and went with the dark purple instead:

Not sure how to call this one for my list... hmm...

Another blanket!  This was supposed to be queen-sized... I'm thinking maybe I'll call it a bedspread.  That works, right?  Sure!

Excellent work carolmb!  I love the colours you chose for the blanket test. ^_^  I'm also deeply in love with the colours in that quilt! Very inspiring!

I have just finished the last of my baby blanket pattern samples.  Yay!

It's not the last one I'll make, but there's at least one of each layout finished now. Hooray!
