My top 3 needles are 3, for some thicker weight sock yarn.  2, for the thinner sock yarn.  and 7's worsted weight stuff.. so hats and dishclothes and such.

If you are looking for yarn to dye... i do a lot of it, and I only order from 2 places.  www.wool2dyefor.com  and Stick Chick on etsy.  Dealing with both of them has been wonderful!!!!!!!!  I order superwash merino... and it is YUMMY!

I mostly work with 100%wool, so i am a big fan of the spit splice.  Russian join is next on my list though.

8  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: My version of the Irish Hiking Scarf.... on: February 02, 2007 09:30:49 AM
beautiful yarn color. I am working on the irish hiking scarf right now and I try not to think about how long it will take to finish cause I hate it taking forever. Smiley Since I learned cables just so I could make this scarf I want to finish it. I would recommend at least trying the pattern. It really is simplistic but still enough to keep you interested. Smiley

I also learned cables for this scarf.  And don't get me wrong I love it.  I just had to put it down multiple times because I was getting bored.  I started it in like september and finished it Christmas eve.  That is how much i put it down, and I didn't even do the full lenght.

One of the things i love about knitting is the ability to pick things up and put them down.  It feeds my ADD well.

9  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: questions from a sock virgin on: February 02, 2007 06:33:26 AM
Thanks all for your help!  I ended up getting a sock needle set from Jo-Ann's that has sizes 1, 0, 00, and 000 (eek! soooo small), so I can try out the 1 and easily switch to a 0 if needed.

Yarn will be ordered tomorrow (payday!), then comes the endless wait for it to arrive.   Smiley

don't forget to do a guage swatch!  With Tweed I end up using a 2 or 3.... that is probably just me, but you want to make sure.

Ok so a full lenghth scarf of this would have made me BATTY!  so I did about a 3/4's lenght then casted off the stitches in the middle. Knit a little on the border then casted on for the middle again, making a hole to pull the scarf through.  Here is my cousin linz modeling it for us.  I gave it to her for Christmas.
