i got tired of not cranking out FOs, so whipped up a cabled baby hat.

The pattern was for a baby hat, but i think I casted on too many stitches, so it's not exactly like a baby hat, and it's a little snug for an adult head like mine.  So perhaps it shall go to my nephews.

its not really stash busting, but at least it's an FO right?

#2 FO of the new year!

P.S. I have issues just threading the top of the hat closed, so I opt for the grafting it closed, that thing where you knit purl purl knit...

Here's my second box!

another box full of yarn, i think this might be enough to finish the granny afghan that I'm in the works of making.

she also included some furry fabric, and sewing supplies, and really detailed charms.

thanks bettflow!

SHOP CLOSED

I'm located in California, and no pet nor smoke.  However, I live with my BIL, who does smoke.  He smokes OUTSIDE, but as I'm sensitive to Cigarette smells if he comes into the house freshly from smoking the cigarette smell lingers for a bit, but he's not home too often.  I don't ever smell smoke on my craft items, but i feel that since I am super sensitive to smells I should disclaimer that plus i feel like each home smells differently anyway, so things coming from other houses will just have a smell, but that is just me.
Thanks for shopping, I hope there is something that you like!

a close up better picture of the owl hat, this one is just for picture purpose.
Brown Owl hat in Red Heart soft yarn, these might be the best acrylics out there in my opinion.  these will be made to order, I will be cranking these out when claimed.

For the two hats above, the colors that are available are, Red Heart Soft Yarn Brown (pictured in hat), Red Heart Soft Yarn Seafoam, Vanna's Choice 138 Honey. Red Heart fleck  I recommend these 4 as they are soft, and the colors are nice.

i got my package from gwenyvarr... as always when i see her note, I remembered that I forgot to enclose a note for my packages.

She sent me:

3 books of knitting instructions, the 10.20.30 minutes to knit is really helpful because i don't always remember how to do certain things and having it for reference is good.  i left my stitchnbitch books in taiwan.

a couple of knitting needles.  I left all my knitting needles in taiwan, but has since purchased a set of options, but i find switching the needles back and forth bites, so I'm very glad to have extra needles around.. this also means that i can start more WIPs.

a whole lot of knitting markers... one can not have too many knitting markers, and crochet markers.  i seem to lose them everywhere...

a bunch of the yarn, i really like the red heart super saver, I am making various afghans, a granny one, and a wave ripple afghan, and is using red heart super saver on it.  Plus I am on a destash, so I can't buy any yarn, but should someone gave it to me, then that doesn't count!!!  It's also interesting to see the colors that other people give me because they are not normally the colors i would buy myself, but still it's pretty, it adds to my  yarn repertoire.

I just want to say thanks gwenyvarr, you sent a great package!!

(will add pics later.)

26  Alpha Beads Stitch Markers in Beads: Completed Projects by itscute on: December 28, 2007 02:09:07 AM
I broke out my old beading materials, I got into beads 2 years ago, and bought a whole bunch of things for it, tools, beads, etc... it got all put away when i got into knitting last year (the beads and stuff was just sitting there in the cupboard.)... and now, I've combined the two!!!  I've seen ones like these around, and wanted to put my own words into them.

I made these lighter, as in not that long or bulky because i find that sometimes when i knit, I don't necessarily like a heavy stitch marker... that's why i mainly use those round plastic things, but I lose those a lot... so instead of buying more of those plastic ones, I made my own.

I think my favorite has to be the yarn one... i really like the turoquios crystals that surrounds the alphabeads plus who doesn't like yarn?  I made some with a claw clasp for crochet, cuz I crochet too... i found that there were less "cool" saying with crochet.  I was going to put hooker, but i didn't want people to get the wrong idea.

I might change the jump rings into the toggle ring cuz it might snag, but I have to go buy more toggle rings.  so these will do for now.

I ran out of the jump rings... but I had more made without rings, HP themed...

I have more on my dropshots page  I didn't want to flood this post with pictures.

27  Re: the owl cable hat - it's hootarific! in Knitting: Completed Projects by itscute on: December 24, 2007 08:30:29 PM
I finally casted on for this hat, after learning how to cable without needles, and finding that i wanted to knit a quick project.  (I'm trying to squeeze in, as much FOs as I can before the end of the year... just for fun!)

the modifications I made...
  • less rounds for stockinette , like 6 rounds instead of 10
  • less rounds after owl cable...
  • after like 4th round of decrease, i added in a knit round cuz I didn't like how the decreases were looking.

Of course with any pattern that I work on, I am bound to fudge it along at times, like when I realised that I was doing the k2p1 rib wrong, I added another stitch in to make the rounds be k2p1 all the way around.  2nd, when working on the owl cables, I realised that I didn't have 8 stitches between the p3s, I just worked one owl with 7 stitches, so he's a bit off...but you can't really tell unless you are staring at the owls repeatedly and constantly just comparing.  those are really the ones worth mentioning.

I made another one last night, finished it today.  I tried to make one owl a different color... it turned out a bit wonky... it's all skinny instead of nice and fat and plump like the other ones.  I think I shall just stick to one color from now on...

28  eighteen in Knitting: Completed Projects by itscute on: December 18, 2007 11:18:33 PM
that is what I'm calling this thing... it's based on fourteen by Yarn Ball Boogie.

Yarn:  Tahki Ghost Print
Needle:  US 13
Notion:  Spare button on a recent purchase.

I'm calling it eighteen because I casted on eighteen stitches instead of fourteen.  But the stitch pattern is definitely NOT the Brioche rib stitch, it's instead the K2 p1 of the Scrunchable scarf...

so really it's a lovechild of fourteen & scrunchable scarf called eighteen.

It's not itchy at all.  I found though the yarn is colored funny... I started out with a skygray, hazy gray color, but then in the middle of the knitting, it changes to a brighter blue, like when the gray lifts from the sky, it's just clear blue... then it goes back to the gray hazy color.  It's rather weird.  i thought perhaps there was a mistake in the yarn... but that's just how it is.  Odd.

My friend purchased 2 skeins on the suggestion that 1 skein does not make anything... and this thing only used up one skein, so now I have another skein left over... perhaps I should really try fourteen with the extra skein... I think I got how Brioche  rib stitch works.

Maybe I can return the yarn to the store that my friend got it from, to exchange it for something else?  I should call up the store and ask.

and this is how she wears it!

30  Re: Felicity aka Keri's Sundance hat in Knitting: Completed Projects by itscute on: December 14, 2007 11:20:13 AM
Finished!!

CO: Dec 12 2007
Finished:  Dec 14 2007, 10:50am
Yarn:  Vanna's Choice (Olive 174) 100 % Acrylic, 100g/170yds
Needles:  US 5 & 7 knitpick circ

I broke my circ needle while working this... i think i was pulling the circ too hard... oh wells, i manage to push the circ part back into the needle and just make sure not to pull so hard.

I had a lot of questions with this pattern, due to just not understanding how normal patterns work.  with the M1s and the join in the rounds and such.  But in the end, I figure I'll just go with it, and see what happens.

I think with the M1 technique of making a new stitch in between the two stitches works for me.  I rather like the hole that it makes... if I should make it again, I shall do that.

the hat i thought would be a bit small for my head, but i think being able to squeeze the noggin into it will work, since yarn stretches.

all done!  thanks Lulu Clyde!!
